Counselor Connection
Tiger Trait for November is INTEGRITY.
Integrity is making good choices even when it’s difficult. When you follow your moral compass and do what is right, you achieve a sense of completeness. If you disobey your value system, you become divided, unbalanced and uneasy. The answer is repetition of good behavior. Practicing integrity on a daily basis may take courage, but it’s ultimately satisfying, and over time will be our first choice.
Parents here are some questions you can discuss with your child.
1. What does integrity mean to you?
2. Why is it important to have integrity?
3. Describe a situation that you have been in and had to display integrity?
4. What benefits of having integrity do you have? List at least 3 benefits.
INTEGRITY by Gary Dodd
Integrity
is standing up
for what
you believe in.
It is treating everyone
equally and fairly,
acting independent
of others that do otherwise.
It is being
open and honest,
responsible for
all of your actions.
It is speaking out
when others
are treated poorly.
It is refusing
to participate
in actions detrimental to others.
It is admitting
and apologizing
for your errors,
when mistakes
are made.
It is respecting
your environment,
your fellow humans,
and your self.
Integrity
is not a characteristic,
it is
a way of life.
It is
what you do,
and what you say,
always.
It sets you
apart from others,
it defines
you as a person.
Treat others
as you would want
to be treated.
Be upstanding,
be forthright,
be conscious
of your actions.
Remember
to always
act
with integrity.
Our students of the month for Trust
Congratulations to these students for showing TRUST. They received a certificate and a card for a special treat.

Music Fundraiser
Help Mrs. Stevenson earn money for our music program by participating in the cookie dough fundraiser. The fundraiser will be Nov. 2-16. This is a perfect way for your family to get some cookies in time for the holiday season! We will be trying to raise enough money to buy African Drums to use in music class here at Acton! Order forms will come home on Monday, October 31st. Orders and money are due to Mrs. Stevenson by November 16th. Our goal is for each students to sell one box of cookie dough and the top winners in each grade level will be rewarded with a special role in our Holiday sing-a-long on Dec. 16th!
Veteran’s Day
We will be hosting a program on Friday, November 11, 2016 in celebration of Veteran’s Day. As part of this program we would like to recognize the Veteran’s from our Acton family. If your student has family members that are Veterans we invite you to send in pictures of your Veteran and pictures of your Veterans with your Acton Students to be included in a picture slide show. Please scan and send pictures to Mrs. Stevenson at amanda.stevenson@ftcsc.k12.in.us by Oct. 28th. Please include the Acton Student’s name, grade and how they are related to the Veteran in email. Please put November 11th at 9:30am on your calendar and invite your Veteran’s to join us for this celebration.
We are also holding an essay contest. Students are invited to write an essay answering the question: “What does a Veteran mean to me?” Essays can be turned in to Mrs. Stevenson by Nov. 4th.
Acton students are bringing home flags to decorate in honor of our Veterans. Please return decorated flags by Nov. 4th. If you need more copies, please contact your child’s teacher.
