Brightbytes parent survey
Dear Parents and Guardians of Chapin Middle School,
We are partnering with BrightBytes, an educational research organization, in order to learn more about our students’ school and home technology use for learning.
We are reaching out to ask you to take part in a Technology & Learning questionnaire. Your participation is essential to help us form a more complete picture of technology use for learning in our students’ lives. Please know that all of your responses will remain anonymous to protect your privacy and they will help your child's school choose the right technology for their classrooms. It will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
The last day to complete this questionnaire is April 2, 2021. Please complete the questionnaire using the link below:

Thank you for taking part in this important initiative!
congratulations!
cool stuff
The Atta Eagle has enjoyed its time in 8th grade and is flying to join the Custodial Staff.
They do an excellent job at going above and beyond keeping our school clean, especially
with the additional challenges this year. They are quick to deliver supplies, make necessary repairs, and help out when needed. We are fortunate to work in such a beautiful building
that is maintained by this great group. The CMS custodial staff is
greatly appreciated, andtheir hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
Thank you for all that you do!
~ Mrs. Rachel Hari

important reminders
staying connected to your student
Parents often ask how to stay connected to a child’s progress and have some controls with assignments on the internet. At CMS we are committed to helping you accomplish this. We have several ways that you can actually keep an eye on your student’s academics and their digital footprint.
Currently we have three options. Parent Portal, Student Google Login, and Google Classroom Guardian Email Summaries. I have outlined the benefits of each in the table below.
CMS currently would like to suggest that you sign up for Parent Portal and learn how to log in to your child’s Google Account. The Google Classroom Guardian is also a great tool but may be redundant if you log into your child’s account regularly. CMS requests that you log into your child’s account regularly. If students are aware that parents can look at email correspondence, classwork and other activities regularly, it helps them make the better choice in a difficult situation.
As you are aware, District 5 uses a student’s birth date as a password. We choose at CMS not to reset these passwords so that parents can easily access student accounts regularly. The benefit of not having lost instructional time for “forgotten” passwords is invaluable, and when students know that parents and teachers can access their accounts, it helps them stay on task and make good choices.
If you have any questions regarding how to sign up for and of this information, please contact our Digital Integration Specialist, Lori Powers at lpowers@lexrich5.org or 803-722-5573.
Click here to access the document below with LIVE LINKS.
Note: For security reasons, you need a Google Account to receive summaries from Classroom. You don’t need a Gmail address—you can create a Google Account with your current email address.
