Stanley Middle School

Week of September 26

Starting Week Six

We are heading into week six of the school year. Interim report cards and invitations for virtual teacher conferences went out last Thursday. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you did not receive either of those.

We have three softball games, a home football game, and a golf match this week. We also have information posted all around the school and in this newsletter about upcoming volleyball and boys soccer tryouts. Information about wrestling will be in the next newsletter.

I would ask that you continue to remind students to be good stewards of our school and of our resources and to not be negatively influenced by social media challenges.

Bus 117 - this week

Bus 117 will be 15 -20 minutes late in the morning this week and up to an hour late in the afternoon. We anticipate being back on regular schedule next week.

DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER BOTTLE

Please make sure and send a refillable/screw-on lid water bottle to school with your student each day. This allows them to stay hydrated during the day. We are using water fountains as refill stations only. Many students recycle a plain "Aquafina, Desani, (whatever you buy at the grocery store) water bottle which is perfect.

School Safety Reminder

In addition to random metal detection in the morning and during the school day, we, like all schools in Gaston County, also practice various safety drills during the month and over the course of the semester.

COVID Reminders

If a student is exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID, is experiencing symptoms of COVID or tests positive for COVID, please so not send your student to school. You can call the school and ask for our school nurse and she will walk you through next steps. Students will be able to find work on Canvas for each of their courses. Thank you for your help and support.
