On God's Team, Players Don't Give Up & Can't Win Alone
This Sunday preschoolers are learning that "On God's Team, Players Don't Give Up" through the story of Jesus & the Disciples in Luke 9, while elementary kids are learning that "On God's Team, Players Can't Win Alone" as they study Exodus 32 and the story of Aaron & the Golden Calf.
For Us
When I think about the statement "Players Can't Win Alone", I can't get away from thinking about the body for Christ.
From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part.
- Ephesians 4:16
As we've been teaching kids about team (a group of players working together to achieve a common goal) let's not forget that we're each a part of the body of Christ. We're connected together, unified in the Spirit, and the body, the church, mobilized is the hope of the world.
For Kids & Families
- Preschoolers: Let's use each moment on Sunday to encourage kids not to give up. As we're teaching them perseverance, we're creating muscle memory for things their hearts are going to grow into. Whenever they want to give up, we get a chance to point them to Jesus to ask for help and solidify that He can & does help us!
- Elementary Kids: We get to show kids what it's like to have a team mentality, to look out for the good of others before themselves, and that we're all on the same team! At this age, something that kids are often wondering is the question, "Do I measure up?" It's so natural to want to find the answer to that by comparing yourself to someone else, but we get to speak truth into that and tell them how the Lord views them!
- Families: We get to partner with parents! Kids are learning that they can't win alone, and we don't want for parents to feel like they're alone either! How can you partner with a parent? One great thing is to share what their kids are doing or learning in KidSpring so that they can continue to talk about it throughout the week.
Bring a Gift Card on Sunday for Hurricane Relief Efforts
We are asking our church family to purchase and bring gift cards (Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart) to church this Sunday. The gift cards will be given to the 3 churches we are helping and will go directly to people who have been impacted by the hurricane. We are partnering financially with 3 churches (Lifepoint Church, Port City Community Church, & Latitude Church) in NC who have experienced significant damage from Hurricane Florence. Gift cards are a great way for these churches to help people in an immediate, tangible way. Let's lead the way in this specific opportunity to show visible love to our neighbors and encourage our friends and family to do the same on Sunday!
