Highlights of the week

This week has definitely got us all in the Christmas spirit. Each class performed a fabulous nativity; the children used both courage and confidence whilst on stage. We are very proud! We would like to thank Mrs Main for the hardwork and dedication she put into making sure all the nativity plays were a success. We are also very grateful to all the parents, especially Anna and Lyn for organising the costumes and ensuring everything ran smoothly.

We will honour our wonderful January Class Reps at our final EPSG on Tuesday 9th December at 8.30am.

Virtue of the week

This week we have been practising the virtue of love; the children have all shown love this week in many ways, through smiling, speaking kindly and doing something thoughtful for

the people they care about.

Next week we are looking at the virtue of generosity.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Our highlight this week was writing letters to Santa. The children used all their best writing skills to ensure that Santa would be very impressed! It was lovely to read about all their and virtues they have used. Some children have been making christmas cards, decorations and sequencing the nativity story. We will be continuing this next week.

PHONICS - The children will get to choose fun filled phonics activities this week as a last week to consolidate their knowledge on the phonemes.

CAFE STRATEGY - We are still working on 'Tryin' Lion' next week!

MATHS

We have been money handling this week! The children have been identifying Singaporean coins and notes and have now begun to add amounts together. They have used their skip counting skills.

We would truly be grateful for anything support you can give at home, perhaps allow your child access to your small change, ask them to identify the coins and then have them count how many cents there are altogether.

Collaborative Art with Prep 2

The art room has been very busy over the past two weeks as students worked on one of 12 collaborative art pieces. These artworks will be placed on a website; www.meerkatplace.org which will allow you to order greeting cards, luggage tags, prints and canvasses of your chosen artwork. Next week’s newsletter will contain a link to the grade level artwork on the Meerkat website where orders can be made. Meanwhile, enjoy the artwork completed by Prep 2!
