DMS Delivers
October 20, 2023
Dear DMS Families,
It was great to see everyone at Green and Gold Night last night. We hope that you had an amazing time as you experienced all that DRRHS has to offer. If you have any questions as we move forward, please be sure to reach out, and we will get the answers to you as soon as possible.
Also, as we move into our last full week of October, we want to remind you that Term I will close on November 13th. If you have not had the chance, please be sure to check your child's progress in each class on Aspen Parent Portal. Report Cards will be available in Aspen Portal on November 17th. If you have any questions or concerns regarding student progress, please be sure to reach out to classroom teachers. You can also reach out to a DMS administrator, or our Office of Student Services if you think that your child would benefit from additional support throughout the school day. As I said at the start of the year, two- way communication will be the key to student success at DMS, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
As we move into next week, please see below for important information, including our first safety drill at DMS, our after-school club and activity offerings, school picture retakes, and the PTO's WizFit Challenge. Also, we are still looking for one volunteer for the DMS School Council. Please reach out to Ms. Kelleher if you are interested.
Have a great week!

Hold and Secure Inside Drill
On Monday, October 23rd, we will hold our first safety drill of the year in collaboration with the Dighton Police Department. For the first drill, we will conduct a Hold and Secure Inside. A Hold and Secure Inside is used when there is a potentially dangerous situation outside of the DMS building. Students will return inside if they are outside for class, or they will remain in the classrooms that they are in at the time. Teachers will close and lock their doors, and then take attendance to ensure all students are accounted for in class. With a Hold and Secure Inside, typical classroom instruction will continue, but students will stay in their classrooms with the doors locked until they receive an "All Clear."
On Monday, teachers will again review the difference between the three safety protocols that we use, all of which are a form of Hold and Secure with varying levels of response. While teachers will debrief with students during and after the drill, please be sure to let us know if your child has any remaining questions when they get home from school on Monday.
After School Activities
Here is a full list of our after school activities! All activities started Monday, October 2nd. Please email our ACE Coordinator, Mr. Gousie, at kgousie@drregional.org with any questions.

As a reminder, if your child did not attend DES or DMS last year, score reports will be sent to the school in which they took the MCAS last Spring. Please be sure to reach out to the school that your child attended in Spring 2023 if you wish to access their scores.

Are You Interested in Serving on the DMS School Council?
We are looking for ONE parent/guardian representatives to join our School Council. The School Council is comprised of both school and non-school members, and will work to incorporate our district's new Portrait of a Graduate and soon to be developed Strategic Plan into our School Improvement Plan. School Council members meet once a month for one hour on a pre-determined date after school.
Please email Ms. Kelleher (bkelleher@drregional.org) if you would like to participate in this year-long project.
Picture Orders/Retakes
As a reminder, DMS Picture Day was Monday, October 2nd. Please see the QR code to the left if you would like to order your child's photo. In addition, photo retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 13th.
Student Chromebook Repairs
In the event that a chromebook is damaged, lost or not working, please submit a Technology Helpdesk Ticket. Once the technicians have confirmation of the ticket, they will provide the student with a temporary device to be used while the damage is evaluated. If the damage is seemingly accidental damage, the chromebook will be repaired at no cost to the student. If you have any questions, please reach out to the DMS Main Office.
