Christianity

Christianity developed out of Judaism. Christians believe that there is one and only true God, who is one being and exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the belief that Jesus is the divine and human Messiah sent to the save the world. Christianity is monotheistic, so they believe in one God. Their Holy Book is called The Bible. Major holidays are Christmas and Easter. Christmas celebrates the birthday of Jesus and Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. A major ritual is Baptism, a ritual cleansing with Holy water.

Judaism

Jews believe in one god, so they are monotheistic. They believe that God is one and unique, the Messiah will come, God is eternal, and many more. Judaism began around 4000 years ago with the Hebrew people in the Middle East. Judaism spread when Jews willingly moved to other countries or when they were forced into exile. Jews celebrate Hanukah, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur. Some rituals that Jews are Sabbath, Kosher food laws, and reading and learning the Torah, the Jews holy book.

Hinduism

Hinduism is a polytheistic religion. There are nine beliefs of Hinduism, all being about the thoughts of life. Hinduism is one of the largest religions in the world, and the religion originated in India 4000 years ago. Some rituals of Hinduism include hatha yoga and Puja. Major holidays include Diwali, festival of lights, and Holi, a festival celebrating spring.In Hinduism there is no particular holy book, but there is one particular scripture considered holy by all sections of Hindus and that is the Vedas. The Vedas has four parts Samhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka & Upanishat. Hindus believe in 14 gods, some including Krishna, Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu.

Buddhism

Bhuddhists believe in Buddha or the enlightened or awakened one. There is no universal book or text. Some of the common core tests include Vinaya Pitaka and the first four Nikayas of the Sutta Pitaka, Some common beliefs of Buddhists include Karma, reincarnation, and four noble truths. Meditation, mantra, mudras. and prayer wheels are all rituals they participate in. They have many holidays, including Buddhist new year and Buddha day.

Islam

Islam is a monotheistic religion and is a religion of the Muslim. It was developed in the Middle East. They believe that Allah, their God, created man from a clot of blood. Hey also believe that their God has no son nor no partner and that none has the right to worship but him alone. A major holiday of the Islam religion is Ramadan and Haji. Rituals include praying 5 times a day and fasting during Ramadan. Their holy book is called the Quran.
