Dear EWSD Family and Friends,
I want to thank all of you who were able to attend Fine Arts Night this week and celebrate the amazing work of our students in this creative community.
The EWSD Board approved our proposed 2019-2020 budget at its last meeting on March 6, which will be presented to voters in April. Our commitment to our EWSD vision is prevalent in this budget.
Our focus points in next year’s budget include:
- Adding a full time Social and Emotional Leader at each of our K-8 schools. These leaders will be beneficial to our system in supporting adults and students. We know that social and emotional wellbeing is vital to learning academics. We will also be implementing Social and Emotional Competencies/Standards K-12.
- We will be implementing an innovative leadership model at EES and FMS, which includes hiring a third co-principal to work with Peter Farrell and Wendy Cobb. The number of staff and students at these two schools call for this shift.
- We have increased our Safety and Security budget by 93%
We are investing in Safety and Security by making sure all our schools have intercom systems
We are partnering with the Essex Police Department in hiring a School Resource Officer
