B-I-N-G-O Your Way to Service Hours!
Everyone should have received a Social Media & More BINGO card in their Thursday envelope this week, and they are due back to the office by Valentine's Day. Complete any BINGO--across, down, or diagonal--and receive a service hour. Complete a cover-all of every square on the card, and receive FIVE service hours! Any class that has 100% parent participation--cards with verified BINGOs turned in by every family in the class-- will win a special treat!
THE WEEK AHEAD!
Relocated from last week
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1
All 5th-8th graders are invited to participate in the annual Knights of Columbus Lansing Council 3540 Spelling Bee. The event is FREE and open to the public. Registration will open at 10, and the contest will start promptly at 10:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place spellers.
Early Bird Drawing
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2,
AFTER 10:30 MASS
Our 2nd Early Bird Drawing will take place after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Have you turned in your tickets? YOU ALREADY PAID FOR THEM! But if they aren't in the drum, they can't be chosen. Bring them to any Mass this weekend. This drawing is for $500!
TRIP ORDERS
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3
Send your orders in with your student, and they will come back home to you on Thursday. Ask your friends and relatives to order through you, and watch those tuition credits grow!
J Club Book Fair
Sister Helen and the Daughters of St. Paul Book Fair visited us today. All of the students had the opportunity to check out the titles and make a wish list of the ones that interested them. They will bring home the wish list and a catalog, so you can see what they like. If you wish to purchase, simply fill out the order and send in with payment (checks to Pauline Books & Media) by Friday, February 7. Or you may order directly from the website. A percentage of the proceeds will come back to St. Ann School.
Ongoing Food Drive - Slam Dunk Hunger Out of Lansing
JANUARY 27 - FEBRUARY 7
Lansing's annual Roundball Classic 5th Grade basketball tournament is coming up, and along with it the annual Food Drive (which we have won an unprecedented five times in a row). We are collecting boxed and canned goods to benefit the Lansing Food Pantry. In addition to all of us feeling good about helping others, the class that sends in the largest average number of items will win a special treat! We started collecting this week, and donations are trickling in! We will update the class standings on Monday.
WE ALSO NEED EMPTY BOXES AND ALDI BAGS WITH HANDLES FOR TRANSPORT IF YOU HAVE ANY!
DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE IS ONLY A WEEK AWAY!
We are coming into the homestretch! Do you have everything you need? A pretty dress? Check. A handsome escort? Check. TICKETS? Tickets are still available in the school and parish offices, but the price has now gone up to $35 per couple. The additional daughter rate is still only $8.00. If you need an order form, you can find one here. There is also a volunteer SignUp if your family is still needing hours (or you just want to peek at the happy couple from time to time). If moms want to watch from afar and snap a couple sneaky candids, the only way to be there is to help out that night.
February Supper Club at Lynnie Ques
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
We had so much fun at Lynnie Ques last fall, we were invited back! Vouchers came home in this week's envelope or can be downloaded and printed here. Please share the Facebook event, and invite all your friends!
PRACTICE PRESCHOOL BEGINS!
Do you or someone you know have a child who will be three years old by September 1? We would like to invite these little ones to attend weekly "Practice Preschool" sessions at St. Ann during the month of February to get a taste of what it will be like to go to school. We have four flexible options, and you are welcome to choose up to two of them! Practice Preschool will meet on Thursdays, February 6 & 13, from 4-5:00 p.m. and February 20 & 27 from 6-7:00 p.m. in the PreK room. Attendees will have the opportunity to become familiar with the space and the teachers, and play and learn alongside current students.

Please note that this day was formerly a 1:30 dismissal.
DON'T FORGET, YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF MARCH TO PUT IN ALL 15 SERVICE HOURS AND EARN BACK YOUR $300 VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT!
Any hours worked after March 31 (like the school picnic and the Good Neighbor Day Parade) will be credited toward your 2020-21 school year volunteer requirement. Some opportunities between now and then:
This year we are excited to be partnering with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo! Schools nationwide are already earning hundreds and even thousands every year through Shoparoo and it’s a great opportunity for us to really make a difference this year!
Shoparoo is school fundraising made easy: the free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. No more cutting labels, selling door to door, or time-consuming coordinating. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap pictures of your receipts with the app, and voila Just shop, snap, earn!
Get started today:
1. Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
2. Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts - shop anywhere, buy anything!
3. You can even select a grade to support and have fun with grade competitions!
There’s no limit to how much money we can raise with Shoparoo - the more supporters, the more we will raise for our school. Schools with just 40 supporters are earning an average of $1,000 every year. That’s free, easy money that we could be fundraising too. Check out shoparoo.com to learn more about this awesome app!
Thank you for your support!
Casino NIGHT AT THE PALACE UPDATES
Our next planning meeting is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 7:00 p.m. at J.J. KELLEY'S. Earn an hour for attending the meeting. Earn many more hours by donating, securing sponsorships, or volunteering at the event! Sign up here.
Event tickets are now on sale after Masses and in the Parish Office, and order forms went home in this week's Thursday Envelope. They are $50 each and include dinner, open bar, dancing, and lots of fun! In case you haven't heard the news, this year we are featuring cash casino gaming: poker, craps, roulette, and blackjack. Try to round up all your friends so you can sit together. Or we can create class tables, so you can sit with other parents from your kids's classes. There will be a prize for the class that has the highest percentage of parent participation (attending, donating, working, they all count).
Don't forget to ask your employer or other business contacts to sponsor our evening. Any parents who bring in at least $1,000 in sponsorships will have their entire volunteer credit fulfilled, just like that! Donor letters and sponsorship forms were in last week's Thursday envelope, and extra copies or electronic versions are available for download on our website.
PLAN TO SHOP AT STRACKS ON DOUBLE CREDIT DAY!
All receipts dated Saturday, February 8 will count for DOUBLE POINTS!
Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1, 2019 and March 2, 2020 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize!
Earn a 75% Tax Credit by Donating to a State Tax Credit Scholarship!
If you or anyone you know likes to take advantage of the tax credits you can get from year-end giving, please refer to the Archdiocese of Chicago's Tax Credit Scholarship information page. Not only will donations to the program made before February 29 (or until the fund is depleted) through Empower Illinois be TRIPLED by the 2-for-1 matching program, but your entire Illinois state tax liability could be eliminated! That means a $1,000 donation gets you a $750 tax credit, and becomes $3,000 in scholarship funding! Plus, donors can designate which school receives their funds, so the money can all stay right here at St. Ann in scholarships to help our families. Print a fact sheet here to give to your loved ones.

We attend Mass together as a school community most Wednesday mornings in the Church at 9:00 a.m. Please join us any time!
