Classroom News!
March has arrived and we have merrily begun the transition to our study of Dr. Seuss. With their colorful and whimsical illustrations and rhyming words, Dr. Seuss books are a tremendous draw for children of this age.
This week we:
* We read "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" and created our own colorful fish with primary colors in the artistic style of Dr. Seuss.
* At Writing Workshop we have begun to focus on making sure that our stories have a beginning, middle and end. We also talked about using periods to show when you are done writing about a single idea.
*On Thursday the Kindergarten class went on a field trip to Adventure Theater to see the play The Snowy Day and other stories. The children enjoyed seeing the stories of Ezra Jack Keats come to life through the amazing actors and actresses at Adventure Theater.
Conversation Starters
* Tell me about your field trip to Adventure Theater?
* What can you tell me about your "One Fish Two Fish" project?
* Can you tell me a bit about your most recent story from your Writing Workshop time?
Announcement
On Wednesday March 18th, Kindergarten will be celebrating "Wacky Wednesday." In the past children have enjoyed wearing their clothes inside out or backwards and/or wearing miss-matched shoes and socks. We all look forward to a fun and wacky day.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Your child can be creative but safe shoes and appropriate clothes are necessary for outside time.
- It would be best not to send your child in tights, because one art activity involves the children using their bare feet.
Thank you!
