Important Upcoming Dates

Dear Carman Families -

THANK YOU for your amazing generosity with our Spirit of Giving campaign! Because of your donations, we were able to help 32 students within our community to have a joyful holiday season! We appreciate you and all you do to help others within our school and Parkway.

Just a reminder that Carman Trails is once again participating in the Scripps Spelling Bee! Classroom spelling bees will begin this week. Good luck to all of our students!

Wednesday, December 22nd will be a Half-Day, with dismissal at 1:00 p.m. Students will have their classroom Winter Parties during the day.

Winter Break begins after dismissal on the 22nd and students will return on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. We hope everyone has a safe, fun break!

With CT Pride,

Allison

Carman Trails Teacher of the Year: Mr. Andy Hogan

Congratulations to Mr. Andy Hogan, 4th Grade Teacher and Carman’s Teacher of the Year! We are so proud for you to represent our school this year. It was shared by one of his colleagues that “Mr. Hogan cares about his students and is great at building relationships.” We couldn’t agree more. Thank you for providing a space where everyone belongs, Mr. Hogan!

Carman Trails Support Staff Member of the Year: Ms. Rena Noonan

Congratulations to Ms. Rena Noonan, Carman’s Support Staff Member of the Year!!! Ms. Noonan is one of our paraprofessionals in the school. It was stated that, “Rena goes above and beyond for the students she works with! She loves them with her whole heart and uses creative ways to understand and meet their academic and social/emotional needs.” Thank you for all the ways you support our students!

A Request from Nurse Connelly

Parents,

We are out of small girls' underwear in the Nurse's office (size 5-6, to fit Kindergarteners). If you are able to send some in with your student this week or when we come back from Winter Break, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help,

Nurse Connelly

Vaccination Records

As a reminder, Parkway is asking parents to consider sharing vaccination records if their child is fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Sharing proof of vaccination is entirely voluntary. Your child’s vaccination record will be kept confidential. If your child is vaccinated, please complete this voluntary form to share your record with our school. The form will ask for your child’s name, school, grade and will have a place where you can upload a photo/image of your child’s vaccination card. You will need to log into your personal Google/Gmail account or use your child’s Parkway Gmail account to complete the form.

Providing your vaccine information will help us measure vaccination rates within our school communities. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nurse Connelly.

It's the Wonderful World of Kindergarten!

The Wonderful World of Kindergarten will take place virtually on January 12th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We will have 2 kindergarten teachers present to speak about what to expect on a typical day at a Parkway kindergarten. The registration link can be found below.

  • Kindergarten Registration will take place virtually again this year. The registration link will open on January 5th and we would like for families to complete registration by January 26th. All handouts will be emailed to families within a few weeks of completing registration.

  • It's Time for the Spelling Bee!

We are so excited to once again be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! Classroom spelling bees will take place during the week of December 20th. One winner from each classroom will advance to the school-wide bee on Thursday, January 13th. One winner and one alternate will represent Carman Trails in the St. Louis Semi-final bee in March.

Grade level practice spelling lists have been sent home for students to use for study.

If you have any questions or would like additional practice lists, please contact Mrs. Manley at lmanley@parkwayschools.net

THE LOST AND FOUND IS OVERFLOWING

Carman Families: is your student missing a jacket? Glasses? A water bottle? Even a shirt? We have many, many pieces of clothing and accessories in the Lost and Found. Please see the pictures below and direct your student to pick up anything you recognize as belonging to them. After Winter Break, all items in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping our school tidy!

    COUGAR COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

This week our Cougar Spotlight shines on Mr. Hogan, 4th Grade Teacher and Carman Trails Teacher of the Year:

The following message was sent in with his nomination: "I was my daughter’s running buddy for Girls on the Run and we paced near Mr. Hogan for most of the race. He was a running buddy for a couple girls in his class and was simply amazing. I watched him encourage them, stop with them, stretch, set goals, hit goals, celebrate goals and just supported them literally every step of the way, with a smile. I know he is loved by all students in the school and I was happy to see why. I attached a photo I took with about a mile to go. I know every other coach out there was just as amazing, but being able to watch him along the way was a highlight of the morning."

Come be a part of our character recognition efforts! Now, whenever you see a student (or staff member) demonstrating character outside of school, you can nominate them using this Google Form - linked here: https://forms.gle/rtmmbkxByyZBRDR17

Nominees will be randomly selected and spotlighted in future Paw Prints and possibly other school communications. By submitting a photo (by choice, not required), you are granting permission for us to use the photo in school-related communications.

Thank you for your help in recognizing and spotlighting character in our students!

PARENTS, PLEASE REMEMBER TO PACK EXTRA CLOTH MASKS FOR YOUR STUDENT

Due to the depleted supply of paper masks that we have left in the building, please remember to have your child wear their mask to school every day as well as bringing an extra cloth mask in their backpack. This is extremely helpful for us as the paper masks tend to come apart during the day. Thank you so much for your help with this matter.
