Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation continues to be good fiscal stewards of taxpayer dollars by maintaining the lowest property tax rate in St. Joseph County. For 2024 the rate will stay at 0.9275, which is the same rate as it was for 2023. Click here for more information.
100 Days of Growing!
Today our students celebrated the 100th day of school. Some students and staff members dressed up as if they were 100 years old, and participated in activities centered around the number 100 . This day is always filled with lots of learning fun. We only have 80 more days to prepare our students for the next grade level. Attendance is crucial especially during testing weeks. We have several upcoming activities to look forward to as we wrap up the first month of the year and look forward to February. DIBELS and WIDA testing are still ongoing and Clearsight is almost done. We have high ability testing coming up next. Please be aware that our e-learning days do not need to be made up, but students do have 5 school days to complete the assignments. Hopefully the unpredictable weather is behind us. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Hot Chocolate Bar
Thank you to our NP PTO members for the delicious hot chocolate bar. It was the perfect way to celebrate our 100th day and start our weekend!
PTO Funding Spotlight
Secret Stories
This year, our PTO donations funded a new phonisc program called Secret Stories. The Secret Stories program helps students understand phonics rules and serves as a supplemental resource for all Kindergarten and first grade students.
Teacher Training- STEM Inquiry-Based Learning
PTO donations are covering an exciting professional development opportunity for our teachers. We have hired ETHOS Science Center to provide four training sessions about inquiry-based learning for teachers. This training helps our school on it's journey to become STEM certified.
Books and Bots
The Young Authors' Conference and Next Gen Conference are teaming up. They will run back to back at the high school, rather than having two separate events on the same day. We are calling the event "Books & Bots" and you can find the flyers attached.
Get ready for some friendly competition. We are looking for the elementary school with the highest percentage of attendees. This school will win a collection of the author's books that are currently in print for your school library. Information about our author can be found here. Carolyn Crimi has written a wide variety of books including: Weird Little Robots, Secondhand Dogs, Don’t Need Friends, Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies, Where’s My Mummy?, There Might Be Lobsters, and I Am The Boss of This Chair. We can't wait for her interactive presentation.
Registration opens January 30, 2024.
PTO NEWS
Please consider volunteering as a co-chair for Galaxy Gallery! This role involves helping organize, distribute, and display a school-wide art project, organize a treasure hunt, and help with set up, tear down, and advertising the event. Galaxy Gallery will be held on Thursday, March 21.
For those new to Northpoint, this is a great event involving a school-wide craft project as well as an evening to showcase those crafts along with instrument, vocal, and dance performances of Northpoint students (at the same time as the 4th grade recorder concert). If you are interested, please contact Maureen Baska at northpointpto@phm.k12.in.us or mbbaska@gmail.com.
Grandparent's Night JANUARY 29, 6 - 8 p.m. Bring your Grandparents or other special family member or friend (aunt, uncle, neighbor, etc.) for a movie night in the school gym! Concessions and other special activities will be available. More information coming soon.
Save-the-Date: Lucky Stars Spring Auction MARCH 1 You're cordially invited to join us for our annual Lucky Stars Spring Auction! This year it will be held at Knollwood Country Club right here in Granger. You won't want to miss a great evening of dinner, mingling, entertainment, and most importantly, the chance to bid on some AMAZING auction items, experiences, and class baskets to raise money for our school. HELP NEEDED! We are currently looking for a few more volunteers to help in various roles, some immediate and others closer to the time of the event. In addition, we’re now collecting items for our auction—which will feature live, silent, and online bidding—and we are wondering if you have an item, service, or experience to contribute to this worthy cause. We have a form to fill out for strictly donations, here. If you can give in either way, please contact: Rachel Felice, PTO Vice President and Event Chair ∙ 812-340-5531 northpointsilentauction@gmail.com Jenny Moller, PTO Vice President and Event Chair ∙ 317-402-2260

Kids Heart Challenge
Northpoint along with a few other PHM elementary schools will be participating in the Kids Heart Challenge during the month of February. We have created a school page and registration is now open. Click on the link to get more information on how to get involved. Students are learning about hands free CPR and also about how to make healthy choices when it comes to heart health. It is optional to donate funds towards the AHA, but if families choose to, students can earn prizes.

Parent Survey Newsletter
To meet the requirements of STEM certification, we are required to have parents fill out surveys from time to time. Please take 5 minutes of your time to fill out the survey for your child at Northpoint. If you have more than one child at Northpoint and would like to fill one out for each, feel free, as some questions may be answered differently for each child. However, that is not required. Thank you for your support in this endeavor.
Procedures for Car Pool Line
Due to an increased amount of car riders this year, we need to change our car pool procedures to provide a safer environment for our staff and students. Please be sure to pick up a car tag number in the office if you don't have one yet. We would appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement the following new procedures;
1. Once you have entered the curb line up, please wait until you have been ushered forward to begin exiting the car pool line.
2. DO NOT pass around cars at any time while you are in the car pool line.
3. Cars will be stopped at the entrance to the the curb line to allow for all students to enter vehicles and exit safely.
4. Your child will be directed to walk safely to their vehicle that should be stopped along the curb.
5. If you are stopped at the entrance to the car pool line, you will be the lead car that should pull all the way up to the first cone . DO NOT STOP WHERE YOUR CHILD MIGHT BE STANDING.
6. PLEASE STAY OFF YOUR CELL PHONES DURING CAR POOL PICK UP.
7. If you need to help buckle in your child, please pull into the parking lot to do so and don't do so while driving in the carpool line as it holds up traffic flow.
8. Watch for the traffic ushers who will be wearing orange vests to direct you when in the curb lane.
9. IF THE BELL RINGS AND THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY ADULTS AT THE CURB, PLEASE PARK YOUR CAR AND WALK YOU CHILD INTO THE BUILDING.
We understand that waiting in a long line is frustrating, but we have to think of the safety of our students and staff members. We appreciate your support with these new procedures. Please call Mrs. White at 574-271-8598 or email her at lwhite@phm.k12.in.us if you have any questions.
