The Charger Connection

Important Information
Central is a Title-I School. Parents of students in Title 1 schools have the right to know the status of their child’s teacher(s) in relation to being Highly Qualified.
Office Hours
Central's office hours are 7:00 – 3:00. No one is available to receive calls before or after this time. If you have an emergency after 3:00, please call the district's switchboard at 478-765-8711.
Parent Visitation Policy
State law requires that all persons visiting the school at any time and for any reason MUST report to the office to receive a visitors’ pass before entering a classroom. Visitors are required to show identification to the office staff. This is not to discourage visitation, but is a safety measure. Forgotten books, assignments, lunches, etc., may be left at the office for delivery to the classroom. If you desire to visit a classroom, we ask that you notify us 48 hours in advance, so that arrangements can be made with staff. All classroom visitors must be escorted by a school staff member.
Progress Reports

Building Staff Capacity
National History Day
Freshmen students will be participating in National History Day. This project is an excellent way for students to learn and utilize research skills which can be used and demonstrated in a variety of ways. Projects will be worked on in class as well as at home. Projects are due December 19th. These projects will be students' final assessment in American government, as well as being submitted to the state-wide competition in March, and the nation-wide competition this June. Please email Mrs. McCrary if you have any questions and visit the NHD website for further details.
Technology Acceptable Use Policy
The Technology Department has brought to our attention that we have many computers in the district that are running an inappropriate proxy software “psiphon” to bypass the district’s content filter. This is a direct violation of the District’s internet acceptable use policy and Georgia law (OCGA 16-9-152).
This information was recently covered with students via announcements, and during advisement. Pursuant to this, any student found to be using this software or any other proxy software while logged into the district’s network will receive the appropriate discipline consequences. It is a violation of state and federal law to interfere with an organization’s network settings.
Parents we ask that you please have the conversation with your child(ren) about the need to refrain from this activity.
Coke Fundraiser
Please be sure to turn in all order forms and money collected for our Schoolwide Coke product sale. Thank you for all students and parents who participated. The deadline to turn in funds has been extended to Friday, November 17.
Funds from the Coke Sale will be used to support our PBIS program.
Fall Festival
Thank you to all parents who assisted with Fall Festival last week. It was a rousing success. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We look forward to even greater PBIS activities moving forward.
Parent Learning Session
Thursday, Nov 16, 2017, 07:30 AM
Central High School, Napier Avenue, Macon, GA, United States
RSVPs are enabled for this event.
HERO is coming!
The HERO program has an option for students and parents to set up accounts. You will need an access code and student ID# to set up the account. The access code is different for the student and parent. We can forward you access codes via email if you would like. You can also download a free App for Apple or Android devices.
It is our hope that the utilization of HERO K12, along with a strong focus on PBIS will result in a reduction in the number of students being absent from school, tardy to class, or receiving disciplinary referrals.

Stakeholder Responsiveness
Please continue to express your concerns through the Let's Talk Platform. You can access the platform from the Central Schoolwires Page. We ask that you not submit anonymous Let's Talk messages, as we are not able to respond to anonymous submissions. The Let's Talk platform is a tool which allows all school staff to be held accountable for responding to parent and stakeholder inquiries. We ask that you use it to post your concerns, as well as to give a word of encouragement or a thank you to a CHS staff member that provided you with quality service. We will only get better at customer service if stakeholders let us know what it is we are doing right, as well as what we need to do better. We look forward to our continued collaboration. Let's Talk
