Stronger Together
A Letter from the President
Good afternoon from the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. I am reaching out to you as many other organizations and companies certainly have in this extraordinary time.
All of this is quite overwhelming and a huge adjustment for all. Many in our industry are without jobs and some are working more than ever before. I myself have gone through a huge adjustment to teaching via e-learning and figuring out how to homeschool my daughter. Unfortunately, I am in the group of people who are immunocompromised and it's been very challenging to isolate.
This is the time to come together as a chapter and support one another however possible. Let's make sure our community partners and industry friends are coping as well as can be. Check in on one another, and reassure that we are here for mental or spiritual help.
ACF is a standard in culinary excellence, and let us demonstrate that to our colleagues and communities. Make videos on cooking and efficiently utilizing products. Plant a garden, get your children involved. ACF has opened an entire catalogue of online learning resources open to members for FREE. This is a great time to work on CEH’s or do those refresher courses needed for certification. If you're wanting to certify, our chapter has members that would be happy to mentor you though the process.
The board and I will do the best to keep you up to date. If you need financial assistance please go to acfchefs.org. From there you will find a link to apply for financial assistance.
Take care, keep safe, and help each other where possible while keeping safe distance.
Be Well,
Chef Susanne Grier
