Permenter Longhorn Check-In
2022-2023 Back to School Greetings
Message from the Principal
I am excited about beginning my first year as principal of this wonderful campus. I hope everyone has enjoyed the time away this summer.
As we look to the 2022-2023 school year, our focus is laser sharp at Permenter Middle School. We will focus on enhancing our Longhorn Pride via three streams:
- Scholar safety
- Scholar achievement
- Scholar social & emotional well being
We have high standards for our scholars and we will need to lean on a positive home, school, and community partnership to execute our district theme of #TogetherWeThrive.
To help transition into the new school year, our scholars will spend the first half of their first two days of school receiving important information to aid in their success with each stream mentioned above. We will have a renewed emphasis on scholar conduct as we know that has an impact on scholar achievement.
Here are some resources to help with the start of the new year:
- 2022-2023 Bus Route Information
- Transportation Registration for Your Child to Ride the Bus
- All Things Transportation in General
- 2022-2023 CHISD Code of Conduct
- CHISD Dress Code
Lastly, we will have several opportunities for parent engagement beginning with our PTSA. Please be sure to read their information carefully in the PTSA Corner. We are aiming for 100% participation in staff and families. You don't want to miss the $15.50 Longhorn Bundle they are promoting that includes a spirit shirt and PTSA membership for the year.
Our staff has been diligently preparing to greet your scholars tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to a great year. The journey begins tomorrow, August 15th, the first day of school.
Faithfully,
Mrs. Lemons
New Start and End Times
We are going to work on transitions this first week of school, but will start counting tardies the 2nd week of school. For those new to middle school, please know that students are expected to be on time to each class period throughout the day. Lateness to classes will count as a tardy so following our specific bell schedule and moving through the halls with Positive Purpose is important. If a scholar is not careful, they could accumulate up to 8 tardies per day so moving with a Positive Purpose is paramount.
Student Code of Conduct, IDs, Dress Code and Cell Phone Expectations
We will follow the CHISD Code of Conduct and encourage families to review it thoroughly with your scholar(s).
- All scholars are to wear school-issued identification at all times on a lanyard.
- The first school ID and lanyard are provided free. Replacements are provided for a fee.
- School IDs and lanyards will be provided on the first day of school for most scholars if online registration was completed prior to this weekend.
- All scholars are expected to arrive and remain in dress code at all times.
- Cell phones can be a distraction and are not to be used during the school day without permission. Please call the front office if there is important information you need to be relayed to your scholar.
Lunch Reminders for 2022-2023
There is no longer universal lunch for all. Scholars must now pay for lunches if they do not receive free or reduced price lunch. We encourage everyone to complete the lunch application listed below.
- Universal breakfast for all
- Lunch Application for all
- Permenter lunch menu for the week of August 15th -19th
Arrival and Dismissal at Permenter
For the safety of our scholars, we will use a staggered dismissal system this year. Scholars will be dismissed by their mode of transportation home as well as in order of the arrival of school buses in the bus loading area.
As we work on best practices with scholar safety in mind, please be patient with us as we fine tune our processes.
Permenter PTSA Corner
WELCOME!!! Welcome back to all of our new scholars, families, and returning family! My name is Landon Caldwell and I'm the president of the Permenter PTA. As the school year kicks into gear, we are incredibly excited for what it holds in store. The past few years have presented unique and unprecedented pitfalls that we had to get creative to overcome. By pulling together and staying positive, we were able to make the year a huge success. I anticipate even bigger and better things for this school year.
Please look at our calendar for key dates and events to stay aware of and watch out for more emails and information as we send it out. This year will see a renewed focus on community and collaboration. Every chance we have to work with our families and community partners will be a fun time and a worthwhile way to stay involved. If you haven't joined yet, (why not?), follow the link provided to get your Longhorn Bundle, or feel free to reach out to me or get connected to PTSA and follow us. We need YOU for the PTA! Together Everyone Achieves More. TEAM work makes the dream work.
I look forward to making our dreams work.
'Horns Up!'
