College Center News

News from the College Center:

Mr. Heineman will be out the entire week of September 19. I’ll be visiting two colleges in Ohio and then presenting at the Nation Association for College Admission Counseling conference.I will do my best to respond to emails, but will be available in person beginning the afternoon of Mon, Sep 26.

Seniors: Keep up the good work on completing your applications! Many of you are ready to submit, so if you need encouragement or assistance in “Pressing Submit”, come see me in the College Center. My Calendly is open for scheduling future 15-minute or 30-minute meetings.

Juniors: We hope your families enjoyed our Class of 2023 Families Night. For any who missed, you can watch the recording here. You should also access the slideshow and the Juniors College Bound Plan.

The Colleges Are Coming!

Seniors, Juniors: Dozens of colleges are visiting ARS to meet you! Check out this roster to see the colleges choosing to visit ARS during lunch/advisory. The list will be updated daily. Remember: These visits are a great way to build relationships with the people who can help you access admission and financial aid. All seniors and juniors should sign up for some visits! You must sign up in Naviance to join.

Counselor's Corner: GT Nominations

AISD Gifted & Talented Nominations

The GT nomination window is from September 19th-October 7th. If you are interested in nominating your child for Gifted & Talented, please email Ms. Rutz directly ( by end of day October 7th, and she will send the formal nomination form and more information about the GT testing process. No late nominations will be accepted.

If your child has already been designated GT in AISD, she does not need to be nominated again. GT designation stays with students all the way through HS graduation. If your child received GT designation in another district and you need information about transferring that status, please contact Ms. Rutz.

Library Corner

📚 Next week Sept 18-24 is National Banned Books Week! We will be discussing censorship and the right to read. Learn about your child's right to read at the ARS Library by reading our Self Selection Policy on the library website. Click here for more resources or contact Minda for more info!

Join PTSA Today!

PTSA membership supports not only students at our school but also advocacy for students at the state and national level as well. PTSA Membership at ARS gives you a voice in the programs and activities we support and create for our Stars!

We now have two ways to join PTSA.

Sponsor a School Banner!

Your sponsorship supports PTSA programs throughout the year. Your business gains exposure while supporting the Young Women Leaders at ARS. Banners are white vinyl with the school logo, include your business name and website and will be displayed on the fencing surrounding the school athletic fields from October 2022 through June 2023. Banners can display a business or family name and a website. An initial banner purchase is $300, and a renewal of your banner the following year is $250. Purchase yours today!
