The Principal's Message
It is already Fall Break time! Students will be off the entire week next week and will return at normal time on Monday, October 21st. I hope you get to enjoy some of this fall weather with your children!
When we return, we have some exciting things happening. Red Ribbon Week begins on the 21st. We will have spirit week to show that we are against drug use. There will also be flags, ribbons, and bracelets available for purchase during lunch periods. Please see the flyer below for details.
We also will begin Peer Mediation. The Peace Learning Center has trained 20 fifth grade students to be Peer Mediators. These students will work with 3rd and 4th graders to resolve minor conflicts. We anticipate this will lessen problems during recess, lunch, and on the bus. We are excited to offer this opportunity and to showcase our student leaders.
I want to give a quick shout out to all the men in our children's lives that came out for Donuts with Dad. We had over 300 participate. Our students were so excited to have breakfast at school with a loved one.
The week of the 21st
Monday: Jersey Day, Brothers Helping Brothers
Tuesday: Hat Day, Picture Retake Day, Vision Screening, Extended Day
Wednesday: Neon Day
Thursday: Pajama Day, Firefighter Safety Program for 2nd Grade, Extended Day
Friday: Red Day, Popcorn Sales
Smencil sales each Monday through Thursday
We work everyday to teach children that our goal is to be better today than we were yesterday, and better tomorrow than we are today. We are Decatur Proud to have this opportunity to serve your family.
Go Eagles!

4-H Genealogy Project
Julie Ferguson, Decatur Township 4-H Director, is offering a unique opportunity to all Decatur Township students (although this is a 4-H project, you do not have to be a 4-H member to participate). On October 18th, from 10:00am to noon, students are invited to the Decatur Township Library Branch to learn about researching their genealogy. A person with several years of experience in genealogy will teach the students how to use Ancestry.com and will donate paperwork, notebooks, and materials to help the students begin research on their genealogy. Students are asked to bring their own tablet, but four laptop computers will be available to use/share for those without a tablet. Students below grade 3 should have a parent/guardian to help navigate the websites. Questions may be directed to Julie Ferguson at jaferg98@yahoo.com.
