Dallas ISD ~ Social and Emotional Learning ~ Vol 1 Issue 4
Why a RESPECT AGREEMENT?
Respect Agreements outlines classroom expectations with input from students and teachers, thus building transparency, trust, and shared accountability. It is a preventative measure for creating a positive climate and culture.
A respect agreement:
- is an essential step in creating and maintaining a peaceful classroom community by establishing a shared set of expectations
- replaces rules and consequences
- it addresses and supports how everyone in the classroom wants to be treated, and
- it builds respectful relationships among multiple parties.
