I.T.S. a Tech Update
September 15, 2020
MacBook Distribution 2020
EPISD@Home MacBook Tips
- The MacBook and the iPad are on two separate operating systems; macOS Catalina and iPad OS 13
- MacBooks can only update to the newest operating system when Technology Services pushes it out. iPads can update as soon as the update is released.
- All iPads and MacBooks are managed by the district and will need to use Self-Service to install apps.
- You cannot use communication programs such as Messages, or FaceTime on managed-devices.
- There is not always an app on the MacBook like there is on the iPad. For example, Schoology, Class Dojo, Seesaw, and ClassLink do not have apps for the MacBook. You will need to go through the web to access these programs.
- Connecting to the WIFI on a MacBook takes fewer steps than on an iPad. Watch the video in English, or Spanish
Please make sure to contact your Instructional Technology Specialist if you or your students have any questions or issues with your MacBook Air laptops.
