Notes from our Social Worker Ms. Calderon- (Safety: Part 2)
Parents and Guardians,
Hello! Here at school, we have begun to discuss safety- what it means, why it’s important and how we can we stay safe in different situations! In this specific newsletter we will be discussing how we can stay safe and healthy during the pandemic. Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Below are many ways that you can help your child continue to learn about the theme of safety, through reading about it, talking about it, and practicing it! Thank you and have a great day!
Read About It
Here is a book to help children learn more about staying safe during the pandemic. It can be found on youtube:
OUTSIDE, INSIDE by LeUyen Pham
Practice It
Here are some examples of what you can do to practice being safe:
PK-1st: Practice washing your hands together. Practice being socially distant and wearing a mask.
2nd-4th: Look up the importance of wearing a mask and being socially distant from others. Think of ways you can still see or communicate with your loved ones even if you're not in the same room.
Talk About It
Here are some discussion points to help you talk about safety in the pandemic with your child:
•How can we be safe when we leave our homes?
•What can we wear to stay safe?
•Why is it important to wash our hands?
•How have you been feeling during this time? How can I help?
