International Games Day!

We will be celebrating International Games Day this year with Lexington Elementary, Meadow Glen Elementary, and Lexington County Public Library! International Games Day is Saturday, November 15, 11:30am - 1pm at the public library. ALL AGES are welcome! This will be a wonderful morning of "unplugging" and playing board games with your family! Come early for story time!

iPads and Laptops

We are thrilled that the iPads and laptops are so popular and that you are using them with your students! When you reserve equipment on the calendar, please keep the following in mind:

*When you schedule the iPads, be sure to include exactly how many you need. We have a total of 46 iPads. Same with the laptops. There are 8 laptops.

*You schedule equipment for a certain time (for example, 8am - 9:30am). Please return what you check out at the scheduled time (in this case, 9:30am). There is often someone who needs them right away when you are finished.

*When you get a cart of iPads, please be sure to put iPads back in the correct slots (the slots in the cart and the iPads are numbered), with all iPads facing in the correct direction.

*Be mindful of creating recurring appointments on the Google Calendar. There are times that the iPads and laptops are reserved months in advance for special projects and events. If you have a recurring appointment, you may overlap with a special project or event.

Thank you so much for your help! If YOU ever need an extra set of hands or eyes when using the iPads or laptops with your class, please let your Learning Commons Team know!

Makerspace Moments! Spotlight: CIRCUITS

Makerspace Moments are a time when students can come to the Learning Commons to explore and create. Students created some wonderful cardboard creations in September and October!

November's spotlight is CIRCUITS! There will be 3 areas that students can explore:

*Paper Circuits - Use copper tape, an LED light, and a battery to create a piece of art that lights up!

*Snap Circuits - Can you connect the parts to make a sound?

*Circuit Blocks - Connect wires to see if you can make electricity flow!

If you would like to participate as a class, let me know and we can work something out!

The Makerspace Moments schedule:

Tuesdays 9am - 10am AND 12:30pm-1pm

Wednesdays 12pm - 1pm

FYI - There will not be an after school Make Shop in November or December. Thank you!

NPES is excited to participate in the "Read with the Gamecocks" program! From November 25 - December 8, students will keep track of the number of pages they read.
