BGS PTO News & Happenings

Read-A-Thon Wrap Up

Our Read-A-Thon ended March 18th! Great job to all who participated and made this year our most successful year to date! Our Bears have impressed us so much!

  • Our students received a whopping $14,554.42* in pledges from their sponsors (more than double our original goal!)

For the next four weeks, we're in what we refer to as the "collection period". Students are no longer able to invite sponsors, but anyone they invited that hasn't sponsored them yet can still do so. After our "collection period" is over we will announce our top readers and fundraisers and the winners of our prize raffles for Amazon Kindle Fire Tablets.

If your child has "offline donations" (sponsors that committed to cash or check donations), please send those into school in an envelope marked "attn: readathon" ASAP.

*Please note: the PTO will not net this full amount as there are fees associated with the company that hosts our event.

Open PTO Position For Next Year: Co-Treasurer

Much of our PTO board is "graduating" and moving on to Eisenhower. With next year anticipated to be a more "normal" school year, the PTO has big plans to bring back ALL of our fun events! However, this won't be possible without volunteers to join our board and help us get it all accomplished next year.

This week we are highlighting our soon to be open Co-Treasurer position. Do you have an accounting or bookkeeping background? Then we could really use your help!. The main responsibilities of this position can be fully done from home and include:

  • Reconciling the PTO's bank account
  • Creating and overseeing the PTO budget
  • Keeping and updating the PTO books
  • Issuing checks on behalf of the PTO

Please reach out to our Co-Presidents at bgsptopresident@gmail.com for more info.
