COVID-19 Outbreak Letter
March 24, 2023
Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,
I know that this is the third letter about COVID in your child's classroom sent this week. Snohomish County Health Department has now determined that the we have met the criteria of an outbreak in Mrs. MacPherson's Classroom. This is because we have had six COVID cases Room 24.
This includes our room 24 staff members. We will have substitutes and other school staff in all Room 24 positions until staff are able to return.
At this time we will not be suspending in‐person participation in school, since we have received guidance from Snohomish Health District that does not require us to limit these activities. However, we do ask for your cooperation to minimize spread.
Individuals who worked or had classes in the affected area between 3/15/2023 and 3/24/2023 should monitor for symptoms for a full 10 days and test on day 5 from the last day of exposure. It is strongly recommended to wear a mask until 4/2/2023. Persons who test positive for COVID-19 or develop symptoms should isolate at home, and call their health care provider for evaluation.
We encourage you to watch for all symptoms of COVID‐19, including any of the following:
Fever (defined as subjective or 100.4°F or higher)
Cough
Loss of sense of taste and/or smell
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Headache
Muscle or body aches
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or Vomiting
Diarrhea
Both PCR and rapid COVID testing is available at Hilltop Elementary or at the Edmonds School District Service Center on most school days. If you would like your child tested, please call 425-431-7604 for an appointment for your child.
If your student’s home test results is positive for COVID, please notify the school immediately.
You may monitor the number of recent cases at Hilltop Elementary on the Edmonds School District COVID19 Dashboard.
If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Amy Helgoe or the office at 425-431-7604.
Thank you,
Melissa Somoza, Principal
