Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Welcome back for another great week at Seeger High School. We entered October yesterday which means the changing of the seasons is happening before our eyes. This month is filled with a lot of events so be sure to check out the "Future Dates" section. Notably Parent-Teacher conferences begin October 17 after school and continue October 18 from 9a-12:30p.
If you would like more than 10 minutes to meet with a teacher, please contact those teachers specifically to set-up a meeting.
PSATS are a week from Wednesday for 8th-11th grades. Seniors are able to use that day for community service activities.
Also, the HS play, Puffs is right around the corner. The shows take place next week!
Thanks and have a great week!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration
Important Message for Parents of Seniors
The state of Indiana launched a new program at the end of last school year called the "Your Path to College". This program pulls students' overall GPA and SAT scores from ScholarTrack and then matches students with Indiana colleges and universities that the student would qualify to attend. You should be receiving a letter in the mail from the Indiana Pre-admissions: Your Path to College program. This letter should include the Indiana colleges or universities your student has been pre-admitted to. It also includes the next steps for your student if they would like to apply to one of the colleges or universities listed. Students must apply to any college or university listed on their letter.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email Tasha Ploss at nploss@msdwarco.k12.in.us.

October is not only National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it is also National Healthy Lung Month. It is important to educate your children on the importance of keeping their lungs as healthy as possible and ways to protect their lungs. One of the ways parents can help kids' lungs stay healthy is by teaching them the dangers of vaping and smoking. Tobacco manufacturers market a variety of vape flavors to kids as a way to make kids lifetime customers.
Vaping is the inhalation of vapor from an e-cigarette or "vape". Vapes can contain marijuana or nicotine. The effects of vaping include anxiety and depression, addiction, cancer, chronic bronchitis, sleep problems, life-threatening lung damage , and increased likelihood of smoking in the future. Nicotine also affects brain development making it harder to learn and concentrate. Some changes in brain development are permanent and can affect mood and the ability to control impulses as an adult.
Some of the ways to quit vaping/smoking are listed below:
- Get rid of all vaping/smoking devices.
- Pick a day you want to quit and let family know so that you can be supported.
- Decide why you want to quit and write it down or put it in your phone and look at it each time you get the urge to vape/smoke.
- Use tools such as This is Quitting or text DITCHVAPE to 88709 for free help and tools for parents.
- Utilize free apps and tools from Smokefree.gov.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for new book recommendations. We asked Mr. Foxworthy if he had any for us, and he pointed us to Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. We also asked Mr. Foxworthy if he had a bucket list. He said that while he doesn’t have a set bucket list, he would like to build his own house one day.
For our last question, we told Mr. Foxworthy that he could choose any actor to play him in a movie about his life and asked who he’d choose. He chose Tom Hanks, because “he’s just good in everything.”
Ready to learn even more? Here are some other facts about Mr. Foxworthy.
Mrs. Conrad's STEM Class

Cross Country
Cross Country had a light week this past week in preparation for Conference next week in Attica. The Boys and Girls had Senior Night on Thursday night where they ran some impressive times without a lot of competition.
The Junior High teams had a couple of very large meets this past week! On Tuesday, they had their final normal season meet at Fountain Central, where around 100 boys and 100 girls raced from many different schools! Maria Frasch placed 5th with a Season Best time and medaled and the Boys team ran strong enough to qualify for the State Meet! Every boy had a personal best in the meet on Tuesday, led by Layton Lowery, who broke 12 minutes for the first time in his career and Liam McBride who broke 13 minutes for the first time!!
On Saturday, the Junior High ran at the State Meet where they ran in massive races! The girls race had a total of 463 runners, while the boys race had over 500!! It was tough in the heat, but Maria Frasch placed in the top 100 and had a Season Best Time!
Cross-Country WRC Championships are on Tuesday.
Football
The guys secured a Homecoming victory in a classic-fashion Friday with a win over the Trojans, 14-13. This WRC victory keeps the team perfect in WRC play. The only other undefeated WRC foe, South Vermillion, visits the Patriots this week for Senior Night. All or part of the WRC crown is still up in the air as FC, NV, SV, and Seeger still maintain opportunities to secure or share the WRC title. Check out the standings below. The Patriots still control their own destiny in the conference.
A Seeger win vs. SV and an FC win vs. NV this week guarantees Seeger a share of the WRC title.
Go PATS!
