Deretchin Summer Update

Hello Deretchin Families! I hope you are enjoying the remaining weeks of summer! My name is Tina Oliver, and I am VERY EXCITED and honored to serve as the new principal of Deretchin! I know we are going to have an AMAZING school year-TOGETHER!


I want to share a little about myself with you. I am beginning my 23rd year in education. I was a 4th grade teacher for eleven years in both Montgomery and Conroe ISD, assistant principal at Deretchin for four years, and I was the principal of Kaufman Elementary in CISD for the last seven years. I have a wonderful husband named Chris and two beautiful daughters, Meg (28) and Bailey (25).


I believe in ALWAYS putting students first in every decision made for our school and working hard each and every day to make school the "place to be" for our students, staff, and families.


It is great to be back at Deretchin, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Popsicles with the Principal-Thursday, July 29

Please join us for a fun opportunity to meet our administration team along with me, see some of your Deretchin friends, and enjoy a tasty popsicle on Thursday, July 29 from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM in the front of our school. Our current assistant principal, Jen Gonzales, our new assistant principal, Leah Clary, and our counselors, Becky Stiles and Jenna Hendon will be there along with some our wonderful PTO volunteers. Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this event.

New to Deretchin Tour-Friday, August 6

We would like to invite all our new Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade students and parents to attend our "New to Deretchin Tour" on Friday, August 6 from 4:30 PM-5:30 PM. This is a "come and go" event, so you are welcome to come anytime between these times. Each family will be provided with a tour of Deretchin as well as receive some school-related information. This invitation also includes any families who were new to Deretchin last year and who only participated in remote learning. This is an optional event.

Meet the Teacher-Monday, August 9

We know many of you are anxiously awaiting one of the best events of the school year- "Meet the Teacher!" We are excited for this event, too! Our "Meet the Teacher" is a "come and go" event, and the times are as follows:


Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten- 4:00 PM-5:00 PM

1st-6th Grades- 5:00 PM-7:00 PM


A video will be sent to the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten parents on August 9 with important information about our school and tips for making the transition to "big kid school" a success!

PTO Information

The Deretchin PTO is excited to start the new school year!! The PTO board is looking forward to seeing everyone again and getting to know our new Deretchin families. District New Student Registration

Conroe ISD will be holding its District-Wide New Student Registration Day on Saturday, July 31, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This opportunity is for students new to the District.
