A World With No Pain

Congenital Insensitivity
"It doesn't hurt mommy" said little Ashlyn Blocker as her mom rapped her burnt hands with bandages. Congenital Insensitivity is a disease that you are born with. It is considered a mental retardation. There are only about 100 people in the US that have it.
One of those people is Ashlyn Blocker, she is a thirteen year old girl who looks and feels normal. But Ashlyn can't feel pain. When she was eleven she broke her leg snd left it broken for two weeks! When her mom noticed, they went to the hospital. Many things like this happen in Ashlyn's every day life.
People like Ashlyn have to be very careful with what they do. When Ashlyn was only three she stuck her hands in a boiling pot of water and they burned. She didn't feel a thing. Many people die from having CIPA. It's not the disease that kills them, it's what they can't feel. Sadly, there is no cure so it is chronic. But doctors are trying to figure out more about the disease and what they can do to prevent it.
In my future, I want to have kids. It is helpful to know more about it to protect our generations to come.
