January 11, 2016

Math- We will be continuing our measurement unit this week. We have been working on comparing shorter than and longer than. We have also focused on measuring with centimeter cubes.


Reading/Social Studies- We will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights movement. We will continue to work on non-fiction texts this week.

Pennies for Patients

Our school is collecting money to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find cures for blood cancer patients. You should have received an informational flyer and coin collection box yesterday. If you have any questions please let me know.

Homework

Please read 10 minutes each night for a total of 50 minutes for the week. If you miss a night you can make it up throughout the week or on the weekend. Please return reading logs on Tuesday the 19th. If they are using Raz-Kids they can include that time on their reading log.

Winter Weather

We will be going outside for recess as long as the wind chill is above 20 degrees. Please remember to bring hats, scarves, gloves and coats everyday. Also, our classroom is sometimes a little chilly when the outside doors open. Your student might want to bring a jacket for the classroom.
