3 ways to split up Earth into regions

Time Zones

The time zones are a way to split the Earth up into regions because time zones are based on what time of day an area of Earth has the sun. So when people travel, noon is the middle of the day and midnight is the middle of the night no matter where you are.

Continents

When you look at the world, it's easy to tell where the different continents are. People on one continent often have things in common like race or culture. The bigger the continent, the more variety you will find.

Longitude

Regions near the equator are warm because they get direct sunlight all year. In the polar regions, it's cold because they get indirect sunlight most of the year. There are also times in the polar regions when it is day or night almost 24 hours a day. In the middle latitudes, it is more temperate and there are usually four seasons.
