Field Day Dates and Details

Dear Parents,

Our Chavez Elementary Field Day is right around the corner, and I would like to share a few things with you about our upcoming event.

This year we will be holding our Field Day on this Wednesday May 11th, 2022 will be our K-2nd Grade Field Day. Activities will be held at the Little Elm Athletic Complex. Below are the schedules for both days:

  • K-2nd Grade: May 11th, 2022. Activities will begin at 9:45am and will conclude by 1:30pm.

Lunch Break will be from 11:15am-11:45am.

Since we will be holding our activities outside, we would like to share a few important things to help ensure our participants have an enjoyable experience. Because our participants will be competing and sweating, it is very important that they drink adequate amounts of fluids to help maintain hydration and replenish electrolytes they lose while competing. We would like to address acceptable and unacceptable types of drinks the students may bring. Acceptable drinks include bottled water. Unacceptable drinks include soda pop, and carbonated drinks. ALL drinks must be in plastic containers. GLASS CONTAINERS or CANS ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Please DO NOT send gum, candy or sunflower seeds with your child. We will be competing in activities on the football field and track, and these types of snacks are not allowed on the playing surface. Bottle water will only be allowed down on the track and playing surface. There will be a concession stand available in the concourse under the home side bleachers. PLEASE be mindful of the above mentioned information concerning drinks and food on the track and playing surface.

Since the days are becoming warmer and the students will be running and competing, we recommend that the students wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for Field Day activities. We strongly discourage sleeveless t-shirts and tank tops, which leave the sensitive shoulders of the participants exposed to the sun and risk getting sunburned. Shorts, a short sleeved t-shirt, a cap or hat, athletic shoes and sun screen are recommended. FOOTBALL OR SOCCER CLEATS, SANDALS, FLIP-FLOPS, or other OPEN-TOED SHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Students who wear these types of shoes WILL NOT be allowed to participate. The above mentioned recommendations are out of our utmost concern for the safety and well-being of each child.

Finally, we would like to personally invite parents to come out and enjoy a fun-filled day with your child and their classmates at our Chavez Elementary Field Day. If you plan on attending our Field Day, PLEASE come to Chavez and sign in and pick up a name badge at the front office before coming to LEAC.

We hope to see you there!!!

Sincerely,

Coach Johnson & Coach Roberson

STAAR Testing - No STRESS Zone

Our learners are ready to show what they know. Please assure your child that this is a day like any other and a chance for them to show what they know. Remind them it is not a race - so take their time!

Dearest Parents and/or Important People,

Our Third, Fourth and Fifth graders will be taking STAAR assessments next week. Please look for more details from your child’s teacher(s).

Your learner(s) will take the tests as follows:

Tuesday, May 10th - 3rd, 4th & 5th Math

Wednesday, May 11th - 5th Science

Thursday, May 12th - 3rd, 4th & 5th Reading

On each day start time approximately: 8:10-8:15 am (The test will take part on the designated day and students will have a four hour time limit work each day. )

Students have worked hard this year and have many skills to demonstrate on these two days. We are confident your students are well prepared and ready to give it 100%. A few tips to maximize your son and/or daughter(s) success are…

  1. Students should arrive on time. Please do your best to make sure there are not any conflicts with out of school appointments on these days for your student.

  2. Get a good night’s rest in order to feel alert and ready to focus.

  3. Every learner will need their charged chromebook - we have all devices at school and will be ready.

  4. Eat a healthy breakfast either at home or at school.

  5. Have a positive send off for your student in the morning. Students should feel supported by you as well as confident that they are prepared. We know some nerves are typical and healthy. Again, we will assure students that all the hard work until this point of the year is their preparation.

We want to remind parents and students that on testing day all cell phones and/or electronics including smart watches must be turned in to the teacher during the test for test security reasons. Cell phones will be taken care of and returned as soon as testing has concluded. We understand students have phones for various reasons and just want to encourage them to follow procedure and turn them in. Thanks in advance for reminding your student to do so.

Please be advised that students will have a slightly altered schedule on this day based upon testing. Teachers will communicate further about this with parents impacted. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our office at 972-947-9452.
