Here's what's happening in MS this week!

Dear parents,
We are nearing the end of the 2nd quarter and all late work needs to be turned in before the end of the marking period.
ENGLISH
6th Grade: On Monday, students will participate in their Book Club assessments. Students are required to have ¾ of their book read and their Thought Log up-to-date with thorough annotations. This week’s activity involves analysis of specific songs in relation to their narrative texts. Tuesday we will study our remaining literary terms and have an assessment on Thursday. I will also provide a study guide for next week’s semester exam on Thursday the 20th.
7th Grade: We are wrapping up a unit on “success” with a writing assignment next week. On Wednesday, students will take a grammar test on chapter 8 and begin preparing for their exam on the 20th.
8th Grade: We will continue our study of Greek mythology with the end of the Trojan War and follow Odysseus on his journey back to Ithaca. On Wednesday, there will be a test over chapter 8 from the grammar book and we will begin preparing for the final exam on the 20th.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: This week, we are going to move east from Egypt and begin our study of Ancient India. We will start with the unique geography of the subcontinent of India. We will also learn about the monsoon weather patterns.

8th U.S. History: Now that we’ve completed our study of The American Revolution and its causes and effects, the class will be honing focus on the creation of the Constitution, Articles of Confederation, branches of government, and Constitutional Amendments. Finally, students will be given a study guide for their end-of-semester exam on Thursday, December 20th.
MATH
6th Grade: Last week we had a quiz over decimals. Corrections should be made if needed and retakes finished this week.
7th Grade: Last week we had a quiz over percents. Corrections should be made if needed and retakes finished this week.
8th Grade: Students are learning about functions and creating rules and outputs from tables, graphs, and equations.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We are reviewing for a test on Ecosystems and Biodiversity this week.
7th Grade: Students are preparing for a global warming debate this week. They also have a study guide to help them prepare for their exam over weather, atmosphere, and climate. Their exam will be on Thursday December 20th.
8th Grade: We are learning about fossils, how they form, and all the different types. Paleontologists use this information to learn about Earth’s history and different things that might impact our future. The students will have a final exam on Tuesday, December 18th and 19th if they earn the holiday pass movie or on Friday, December 21st if they do not.
