Basketball is a huge part of Lachlan’s life and if you have ever been fortunate enough to watch him play, you’d realise what a great basketball player he is. This national event will be taking place in Adelaide in the first week of the school holidays.

Congratulations to the Dharawal house for taking out first place at the Swimming Carnival, followed by Ingham, with Polding in third place.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PDHPE staff and SLR student helpers; without their effort the carnival would not be possible. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Moubarak, Mrs Birkbeck, Mrs Hooton and Mrs McCarthy for their assistance with recording and time keeping on the day. The carnival was able to run smoothly as always with your expertise in swimming. Finally, thank you to all those parents who came to support and cheer on their children.

DIOCESAN SWIMMING CARNIVAL
The Diocesan Swimming Carnival on Thursday 15 March, was a fantastic day, at Corrimal Pool. The weather was a little on the warm side, but this made for a nice change after last year's wind and rain. The St Benedict's swimming team looked the part, with their brand new College swim caps, worn proudly for the first time. The purple caps were definitely a stand out and the students were excited to be wearing them.
On the day, the students were exemplary in their behaviour and they were enthusiastic and encouraging towards each other. Numerous swimmers had multiple events and it appeared as though the moment they finished one race, they were back up on the blocks to do it all again. The heat certainly enticed the students to get into the water whenever they could to cool off!
Overall, St Benedict's had some outstanding performances at the Diocesan carnival. Special mention must go to Simon McCarthy, Madeline Birkbeck and Isabella Ravino, who have been selected to compete at the CCC Swimming Carnival. We congratulate them on achieving this and wish them the best of luck at the next level. Max Surace was also awarded the runner up Age Champion in the 16 Years Boys age group, for which he is to be commended.
It was certainly a successful day for St Benedict's Catholic College in the pool.

DIOCESAN TENNIS
Congratulations to our tennis players who represented the school for the first time at the Diocesan Tennis Day on Thursday 15th March. We had an early start, leaving school at 6.30am to travel to Wollongong.
We played St Joseph’s Albion Park first with our boys losing all 6 sets. Our girls drew 3 sets all, however lost by one game 27-26 on a countback. This put both teams into the consolation draw. The boys lost their second match to Magdalene 5 sets to 1 and the girls lost to St Mary’s 5 sets to 1.
There were some closely contested sets throughout the day and I would like to congratulate our players on not giving up and playing to their best. The girls team consisted of Monica Smasarian, Amy Smsarian, Darcey Christl and Charlotte Gibbs-White. The boys team consisted of Zac Siutz, Damon Siutz, Joel Shields and Michael Pavey.
