Words of Inspiration

"Change is the end result of all true learning."

-Leo Buscaglia

A Special Applause to...

The choir concert was amazing last night! This week I would like to give a couple of special thank yous. Thank you to Patci for all of the work you have done for our students. The reaction from your students, past and present, shows how much they know you care for them. You have inspired so many students to follow their creative dreams through music.

I also know that we spend a considerable amount of time preparing for these performances. I can tell you that there were a lot of families impressed with the preparation that went into the choir concert. Thank you to our staff for being flexible with your schedules and with students who need to complete classwork and projects.

PD on the Fly...

As the end of the school year nears, it is often a good time to reflect. I recently found this article and thought it could be valuable to our students. Student awareness of their own thought process is powerful as they continue to grow and develop. As the author states, " Reflection is a natural part of learning and in many cases doesn’t even need to be ‘promoted.” Given time and collaboration, students (and adults) tend to talk about experiences and learn from that kind of reflection." Enjoy!

Info for the Staff

Responding to Your Questions on How to Help...

Several staff members have asked how to help the Whitmer family as they process the tragedy of losing their mother, Laura. I have been in communication with community members who are close with the family. They have set up two options to help that you can donate to, if you would like. The first was a meal train that is full through September. The organizer said at this time they are not organizing meals past that date. The second is a donation for a laundry service. If you are interested, you can Venmo or Pay Pal money to the organizer. The information is below. Thank you to everyone who supported the family this week.

Furniture

With the number of people leaving the Greene School, I know many of you would like to have furniture from their rooms. I am writing this to inform you that you may not place dibs on or take furniture from another room. With that being said, I will develop a process that honors the current staff at Greene to be able to take furniture rather than just giving it to new staff who have never worked in the building. Please understand that if you would like furniture, you will also be giving up furniture. What will not happen is for classrooms to be left with incomplete furniture sets that will require us to purchase additional seating for students.

Staffing Update

This week Andrea Dorko informed me she is stepping away from the Language Arts Subject Leader Position. Andrea has done an amazing job of leading our staff to improve wiring processes for students. Thank you, Andrea for 5 great years of leadership.

I am excited to share three more staffing additions! Meghan Treglia will be joining the Yellow Team to teach language arts. Meghan comes to us from Forest Hills. Please reach out to her and welcome her to Greene: connelmm@gmail.com

We have also filled the open special education moderate to intense position. Laura Geiseler will join our team. Laura comes to us from Blowing Green State University. She is excited to begin her career with us next fall. Please reach out and welcome her to Greene: lgiesel@bgsu.edu

Finally, we have filled the additional special education inclusion position with the Purple Team. Ross Lehr will join us from Goshen Schools. Please welcome Ross to the Greene School: lehrr1@mymail.nku.edu

Walking track requests

Now that the weather is nice, many of you want to be outside with your team. Please let the office know your plans either by email, calling, or writing on the whiteboard in the office. We need to know when you will be going out and then we will let you know if there is any overlap with other teams. Thank you!
