Summer Fun
Read for fun!
Studies consistently show that students who do not continue reading over the summer lose as much as 3 to 4 months of academic progress. When children read what they choose themselves and read for enjoyment, they receive the most gains in reading achievement.
Public Art Display
As the lessons continued for many years she entered local art shows in north Texas and in Oklahoma. Mingling with other local artists and appreciating their work is an important aspect of these shows, and of course, winning ribbons and selling art is also rewarding. Reba also donates pieces to charitable auctions in the Pottsboro area. Each year she makes time to attend at least two workshops around the country from some of her own favorite, renowned artists.
The pieces presently hanging in the library are a series of acrylics on canvas using acrylic paint "skins" collaged onto an underpainting.
New books for all ages
We've stocked up on audio books to listen in the car on your vacations. If you enjoy eBooks, you can check them out from wherever you are. They don't take up space in your suitcase, and there is never a late fee.
New books are added to our collection every week. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, this year's book budget is the largest in our history.
