ROADRUNNER REVIEW
OCTOBER 12TH, 2022
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTNERSHIP!
IMPRESSIVE TURNOUT: The numbers aren't completely in yet, but participation in the Fall P/T Conferences looks very positive. The National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education shares that "students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school." Thank you so very much for your involvement in your child's education!
FIRST POINT OF CONTACT/CHAIN OF COMMAND: If you have any questions or concerns about your child's education, please remember to always contact your child's teacher as the first point of contact. We are happy and eager to address any and all concerns you have!
THIS COMING WEEK - PEACE & KINDNESS WEEK @ NV!
In February 2011, it was resolved by the State Board of Education to declare a full week in October “Anti-Bullying Awareness Week” as a symbol of the commitment to ensure safe and nurturing school environments. Northview will be celebrating this week with spirit days, morning announcements, and counseling lessons in all grade levels. This year we will have a focus on PEACE and KINDNESS. It is important to remember that although this is celebrated and talked about during this week, the anti-bullying message is ongoing throughout the year.
HERE ARE THE SPIRIT DAYS FOR THIS COMING WEEK:
Monday, October 17, 2021- “Northview stands up for PEACE”: Students and staff will wear a Northview shirt or Northview colors (red and blue)
Tuesday, October 18, 2021- “PEACE is Colorful”: Students and staff will wear their favorite tie-dye clothing.
Wednesday, October 19, 2021- “Dare to be Different”: Wear mismatched clothes to celebrate our differences.
Thursday, October 20, 2021- “It’s no sweat to show KINDNESS to others”: Students and staff will wear sweats or work out wear to school

HELPFUL HINTS ABOUT HEAD LICE...
- NV is seeing a rise in cases of head lice. While these bugs are certainly a nuisance, they do not carry any harmful disease. Lice crawl and jump, but they cannot fly.
- Lice may live on a human hair for 48 hours. If a student seems to be scratching their head more than normal, please feel free to send them down for a head check.
- Here are some helpful tips to know about head lice:

FIRST ANNUAL HOLIDAY MART!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3rd from 10am to 3pm! Please plan to join us for the first annual Northview Holiday Mart! This free, open to the public event, is a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping done, while also supporting our fellow community members and students. Funds raised will be used for Northview student activities.
We invite any Northview families who make or sell goods or services to be among the first to purchase booth space at the Holiday Mart. Northview families also receive preferred pricing of $30 if registered before September 30, 2022! After this date, the price will increase to $40. We will reserve spaces on a first come/paid, first served basis and will only allow one vendor per business (i.e: we will only have one Scentsy rep, one Pampered Chef rep, etc.). Applications are available by sending an email to northviewholidaymart@gmail.com Once applications are submitted and reviewed, payment can be made by sending in a check (made out to Northview PTO) or cash to the Northview office or online with the instructions to follow application approval.
Vendor Fees:
- Booth space rental (10x10): $30 (before September 30, 2022) $40 after deadline
- Table rental: $10
- Electrical outlet (limited number available): $5
Any questions? Please contact northviewholidaymart@gmail.com. This event is made possible through collaboration with Northview PTO and The Olathe Public Schools Foundation Grant.
OPS EQUITY HOTLINE
Olathe students deserve and should expect equity and inclusion in our schools. Students experiencing instances of inequity are encouraged to report incidents and events where they feel inequity exists so that district personnel are aware and can follow up. Olathe Public Schools has established the OPS Equity Hotline Number. Students and parents may call this number to report incidents they feel need the awareness and attention of district officials. The number is 913-780-7995.
Individuals may also email the office of Diversity and Engagement directly. Click here to email diversity@olatheschools.org.
