Message From The Superintendent
#TheKnightWay
The Knight Way means our students, staff as well as community have a daily experience of setting and meeting high standards personally and professionally. The Knight Way applies to all people serving in the district, recognizing all collective groups and honoring everyone in their individual roles and responsibilities.
The Farmington school district embraced #TheKnightWay because It summarizes our outlook on school and community as we strive to become our best. #TheKnightWay inspires us to take action, overcome obstacles and live up to our highest selves. These are words that are a reminder to tap into the best that is within us and bring it to our school environment, families, communities, and the world in which we live.

Safe & Healthy Schools
Farmington School District Enhances Indoor Air Quality with New Purification Systems
Farmington students and staff can look forward to breathing cleaner air this academic year, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Mr. Gary Davis and the FSD Maintenance and Custodial staff. Last spring, Mr. Davis took the initiative to apply for an air purification grant from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and his proposal has been approved, bringing significant improvements to the indoor air quality across all campuses of the Farmington School District.
The grant award, totaling over an impressive $160,000.00, has paved the way for the installation of state-of-the-art air purification systems throughout each of the school district's facilities. Come the start of the 2023-2024 school year, every office, classroom, gymnasium, and large commons area will be equipped with these advanced purification systems, ensuring a healthier and more comfortable environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
The benefits of these air purification systems extend beyond the immediate improvement in indoor air quality. By effectively filtering out harmful particles, allergens, and pollutants, the systems can contribute to a more focused and healthier learning and working environment. Research has shown that cleaner air can lead to increased cognitive function and reduced absenteeism due to respiratory issues, making these systems a valuable investment in the well-being and academic success of our students.
Additionally, the grant's funding also covers filters for the purification systems for the next four years. This foresight ensures that the systems will continue to operate at peak efficiency, delivering continuous air purification benefits well into the future.
The Farmington School District would like to express its gratitude to Mr. Gary Davis for his initiative and commitment to securing this essential grant. With his efforts and the support of the Maintenance and Custodial staff, the district can now provide an even safer and healthier learning environment for everyone.

Why is it important for all families to complete the form?
- When you complete the Free & Reduced Lunch Application, it helps fund many programs that benefit all of our students.
- The Free & Reduced Lunch number is directly tied to intervention services & supports for math, reading and writing through Title 1.
- The Free & Reduced numbers impact our Early Childhood program.
- The Free & Reduced numbers directs the amount of state funding for our district.
- The Free & Reduced numbers allow the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to determine funding for special education services.
- Many grant opportunities utilize our Free & Reduced numbers to determine our eligibility.
We appreciate each family taking the time to complete the Free & Reduced Lunch Application even if they know they do not qualify.
You can now access the form in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Once in your portal go to "More" then "Meal Benefits." Paper forms will be available at Roll Call.

Special Services Team
The Special Education Department has spent the summer transitioning to Sped Track and learning how to better serve our students with TEACCH training. Sped Track will replace Tyler SIS as our IEP software; they will also be using it to maintain our 504 documents. This transition has required a big assist from our Technology Department with integrating our systems as well as a great deal of hardwork from staff to learn how to use the new system. We appreciate everyone’s work!
TEACCH is an instructional approach for creating an effective learning environment for students with autism. It focuses on providing predictable classroom structure and procedures with visual supports and cues in order to help learners succeed. Staff will began virtual PD on TEACCH in July, with a second group set to start in August.
Assessment & Curriculum
Assessment and Curriculum work has been in full swing this summer. FSD teachers have been busy updating assessments and units of study in order to accelerate student achievement and align learning goals to assessment and curriculum to further meet the needs of our students. PK-3rd Grade teachers have worked to use knowledge gained from LETRS (The Science of Reading) to further promote and use best practices in literacy instruction to close gaps in early literacy skills. 4th-6th Grade teachers have used MRI (Missouri Reading Initiative) knowledge to promote and use strategies and skills learned in early literacy to deepen student experiences in vocabulary and comprehension. In addition, social studies teams have worked to align reading and social studies standards in order to best meet the needs of our students with rich literacy experiences for our students. Math and science teams focused on updating assessments and units of study while looking at cross curricular tiered vocabulary seen across subject areas to enhance the knowledge and use of tiered vocabulary with students. As the school year begins, we will continue our focus on assessment and curriculum based on the ever changing needs of our students.
School Supplies
New This Year!
New this year! The Farmington R7 School District is using TeacherLists to manage and share our back-to-school supply lists digitally.
Options:
- Families can shop for school supplies online with one-click shopping at major retailers, including Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, or Staples. All items on the list will be added to the cart, but any item not desired may be removed.
Families who prefer in-store shopping can use the checkable list on their phones.
Families can print the list to take to the store with them.
Or, printed lists will still be available at our local retailers, such as Wal-Mart.
Note: We understand some families may be unable to purchase the supply items. The Farmington School District will be happy to assist any families who need help getting school supplies. Please contact your building social worker to obtain assistance.

The 2023 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 4, and runs through Sunday, August 6.
Community Connectedness
Important Change With Remind Messaging
Due to a new student information system, all parents/guardians in each family must create an Infinite Campus portal account to be automatically added to our Remind messaging system.
If you don't create your Infinite Campus portal account but want to receive messages from Remind, you must manually add yourself to each building and class from which you wish to receive notifications. More information is available at https://t2m.io/FSDCommunication
Future Focused
FSD Operations
The summer is a very busy time of year for the Operations Department as we try to get ready for the 2023-2024 school year; this summer, the Maintenance and Custodial staff have been hard at work deep cleaning every inch of the district inside and out so our buildings will be ready for staff and students in August. We also have crews mowing, mulching, and landscaping along with completing projects district-wide, such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, and HVAC repairs, all while helping with demo and construction work at the new Farmington Career Academy. The Transportation staff has been working non stop getting every bus cleaned and serviced throughout the summer as they prepare to hit the road in August as well. The Food Service Department has been designing a new menu system that will be more user-friendly for staff, students, and parents as we move into the school year. As you can see, we have been very busy and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2023-2024 School Year!
FSD Technology
Over the summer, the Technology Department successfully completed several projects to enhance various aspects of the District's Technology program. These projects included camera improvements, network upgrades, installation of 27 Promethean Displays, and implementation of 16 new touchscreen computers in our cafeterias. In addition, the Department assisted with new initiatives such as the Infinite Campus setup, new student badges, and remodel of the Farmington Career Academy. It was a very busy and productive summer for the Technology Department.
