The Knight Times

The Saint Columbkille School Family Newsletter

Welcome Back, Knights!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!

I start this newsletter with some heartbreaking news. Fr. Leonard, parochial vicar, passed away on November 22nd. Fr. Leonard was an incredible man and truly loved Saint Columbkille School! He connected well with each one of the kids and was often seen at several school celebrations like Breakfast with Santa and our school music programs.

While we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus this advent season, I hope that you will take time to celebrate the life of Fr. Leonard.

Fr. Edwin Leonard - Diocese of Cleveland

Enjoy your week, Knights!

Mr. Richards

Giving Tuesday & We Give Catholic - November 30th!

Don't forget about Giving Tuesday #WeGiveCatholic!

In the past, Giving Tuesday has given us the ability to install a new Gym Floor, an AMAZING playground, and purchase necessary technology for our students!

We are working this year, to raise funds for continued updates in technology, the ability to give our students more chances to work with cutting edge technology in our STREAM Lab/ Makers Space, and the capability to update apps and classroom technology that are used on a daily basis to enhance and supplement the curriculum!

We want to keep the Tradition of Excellence alive at SCS! Please consider donating and spreading the word to family members, friends, business colleagues, and businesses. No amount is too small!

Every little bit helps and will allow the teachers, faculty, and staff to continue the Excellence at Saint Columbkille School!

Change of Routine

It is imperative that we receive change of routine forms when child's normal schedule changes for afternoon pick-up.

You must communicate with the Office on your child's change of routine. Simply emailing the teacher is not enough.

For example: If your child is tutoring with a teacher and not riding the bus as normal, we must know. Please send in a change of routine form.

As a reminder, you must let the School Office know of your child's absence.

You must call the School Office at 216-524-4816 to report your child's absence.

Please call by 8:30AM.

Quarantine Procedure

The Quarantine Procedures that were sent a few newsletters ago pertain to students within a classroom setting. Those procedures do not outline the necessary steps if a child contracts COVID or a family member within the household contracts COVID.

If a family member within the same household tests positive for COVID:

All students who attend SCS must quarantine for a minimum of 10 days. Those students must also present a NEGATIVE COVID test that is no more than 3 days old before being allowed to return.

If during that 10 day period, symptoms of COVID being to emerge, please contact your child's pediatrician for further advice and a COVID test. If a child contracts COVID who attends SCS, that child must remain in a 14 day isolation (away from others) before being able to assume normally scheduled activities; school, sports, etc.

While in a 10 Day Quarantine, if that child tests positive for COVID, the 10 day quarantine no longer exists and it automatically becomes a 14 day isolation.
