First Day Flagpole + Drop Off/Pick Up + Parking Lot + more

First Day of School is Almost Here!

Tomorrow is the first day of school! We enjoyed seeing all the smiling and excited faces at Meet the Teacher Night on Friday and Monday. Thank you to all our families for your generosity in bringing in community supplies as well.

We hope you can join us for our FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FLAGPOLE at 8:45AM in the center courtyard. Gates will be open at 8:30AM for entrance into the courtyard area. Don't forget, after flagpole, parents are invited to our PTO sponsored "Tears and Cheers" breakfast for parents/guardians.

See below for IMPORTANT REMINDERS REGARDING ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES & PICK-UP/DROP-OFF INSTRUCTIONS. Make sure you make a plan with your child for how they will be getting home the first day, including dismissal location.

We also have information below regarding lunch accounts, school supplies, Before/After Care staffing and 4th-6th Device Protection.

See you tomorrow! It's going to be a great first day!

DVUSD is offering an Optional Device Protection Plan for families of 4th-8th graders utilizing take-home devices. Enrollment in the plan is optional with the understanding that if students/parents do not enroll in the protection plan they will carry full liability for the student device (iPad or Chromebook) in the same way they do for other damaged or lost school property, such as textbooks. Note--- these fines will follow the student through high school, impacting ability to purchase parking permits and prom tickets.

The fee for Device Protection Plan is $25 per child/per school year.

Parents can purchase the protection plan online at

**Note- the cost to replace a fully-damaged chromebook is $250 and will be charged to your child's account if damaged without the protection plan.

Deer Valley Unified School District has begun using a new parent notification system.

The District and our schools have sent messages to parents during the past couple weeks.

All parents should have received an email on Monday July 26 from Deer Valley Unified School District at

If you didn’t receive the email, please check your email’s Spam and/or Junk folders.

  • We understand that some of the emails from DVUSD maybe going into junk or spam folders, especially for gmail users. To help fix this problem, move the email from your junk or spam folder into your in box. Also, add the reply to email address from the DVUSD email to your email system’s address book. In addition, add and to your email system’s address book.

DVUSD is continuing to fine-tune this system and will likely run future tests to ensure all parents are receiving important messages from schools and the district.

Please note: If you unsubscribe from an email from either a school or the district, you are unsubscribing from all of the future emails coming from your child’s school and the district.

Thank you for your patience as we implement this new system, which will be more efficient in getting important messages to our parents.
