We are headed into our last week of October! It's so hard to believe - the holidays will be here before we know it.
Thank you for your continued compliance with our arrival and dismissal procedures. We have really worked hard to smooth out the bumps, and I think we have for the most part.
Be on the lookout for Parent Teacher Conference information from your child's teacher. Conferences are November 10th and 15th. Reminder that there is no school for students on November 8th because it's a professional learning day for staff.
We are excited for our 5th graders this week as they head to Camp Ohiyesa! It should be a fun couple of days of team building and learning together, building memories of a lifetime.
As was sent out last week, our plans for Halloween are as follows:
- Parade around the track, weather permitting
- Parade start time, roughly 2:45pm
- No parking on the basketball court area, for either golf carts or vehicles
- No golf carts stopped on the track, as we will be walking in that area
- If you plan on signing out your child(ren) after the parade, please let your child's teacher(s) know ahead of time. We will have students bring their belongings outside so that they don't need to re-enter the building
- Grade levels will have specific areas on the playground where they will be located after the parade for student sign-out
- Playground equipment will be closed during the parade
- Family viewing area for the parade will be on the INSIDE of the track so that we have a clear path back into the school
- No pets allowed
We look forward to a terrific week!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bentley, SM Principal
Dressing for The Weather
Temperatures are now colder here in Highland and that means it is time for Hats, Coats and maybe even Gloves. Please make sure your student(s) are dressed warmly for outside recess. They will go outside each day unless there is inclement weather. When your student is dressed appropriately for the weather, they have a comfortable and happy recess! Should you need help obtaining warm clothing for your student you can reach out to Community Sharing at 248-889-0347.
