LMS Testing Topics
2nd Semester 2016-17
Welcome to Testing Season
It's that time of year again! Second semester brings a lot of excitement with the approach spring, a couple of week long breaks, and summer break. Second semester also brings a good bit of testing across our school, such as the Access Test for our ELL students, a national test called the NAEP, and Milestone tests. It's a lot to keep straight amidst all the other things you have to remember to get done. Each of these dates are in the school calendar and hopefully this newsletter will help you organize the information.
Upcoming Testing Dates for your Calendar
- Access Testing: ELL Students Only - January 23-27; Location -7th Grade Computer Lab
- NAEP: 60 8th Grade Students Only - March 7; Location - TBD
- Milestone Practice Exam: All 7th & 8th, Only 6th with Accommodations - February 9; Location - All Computer Labs. Will begin approximately 8:30 am.
- EOG Milestones: All Students - April 18-28; Location - All CPU Labs and Classrooms.
Important Notes...
- The Chromebooks will be in "testing mode" and will not be able to be used for anything other than testing. They will be locked in the mode from April 17-28. Please mark your calendars so you do not plan to use them during instructional time. This is especially important for 7th grade teachers as you will not be testing on all EOG days this year.
- For the EOG in April, the 6th grade will test on paper, while 7th & 8th will use Chromebooks. All students with accommodations, 6th-8th, will also testing electronically.
- We cannot use Chromebooks to test for the Access test and therefore have to use a computer lab.
- The secured practice test on February 9th for the EOG is crucial for our technology department. The 8:30 am time is to allow the elementary schools to come online simultaneously with the middle schools across the county. Technology is testing our network to ensure it will be robust enough to handle the load in April. It also gives our students and staff a chance to practice the testing day procedures. This will look like the actual testing days, with buckets, testing tickets, small groups, proctors, etc... The practice exam itself is 45 minutes long, includes all subjects, and is hosted by the state.
