ELV's summer reading & New Math APS summer program
The Livonia Council has run our ELV's program (Early Literacy Volunteers) for many years. We are late getting these sign ups out to elementary students and volunteers but we were trying to determine if we should hold the program at all. We decided to move ahead although it will look a little different than normal (like everything these days). Students and volunteers will meet at Rotary park and they will be asked to follow all the MI social distancing guidelines and the LPS COVID-19 Safety & Prevention Plan. Below are the sign ups for LPS students K-5 who are interested and the sign up for the volunteers.

Virtual Tour Of Riley
Please take a minute to look at this Virtual Tour of Riley. This will give you a better understanding of the school's layout. This is also on the Riley Website. This is an opportunity for our 4th graders to see the staff and the building since they did not get to take the tour. If we are back in buildings in the Fall, Riley is hoping to have an Orientation on August 28th.
Parent Survey on Remote Learning
Dear LPS Parents,
First of all, THANK YOU, for everything you have done to support your child with learning during these unprecedented times. We know that since closing school on March 13, all of our lives have changed in ways we did not know or anticipate on that date. But we did it! We navigated staying home and staying safe for the past 12 weeks, in addition to moving almost 2,000 teachers and 14,000 students to a remote learning experience.
As school closes for the 2019-20 school year, we would like to ask you to complete the attached survey about your experiences this spring.
This summer we are preparing a variety of scenarios for the return to school. All will be carefully planned with your students' educational experience that align to the State Standards for each grade and content area and their well being at the forefront. You will have an opportunity this summer to provide feedback about plans for the fall.
The survey link is below and will be open until the end of the day on Monday, June 15.
Thank you for everything you do,
Theresa O'Brien

Summer Reading Program at the Westland Public Library
This year the program is available in both a digital version online at http://www.westlandlibrary.org/events starting June 15 and a paper version which can be picked up in the library after June 22. There are prizes and incentives along the way. If they reach the goal of 40 days of reading students may choose a FREE book and be entered to win some fabulous prizes in our drawing!
The SRP is open to ALL children, not just those living in Westland!
