Notes from Nurse Julia
Remember, flu season lasts until May!
Properly covering coughs and sneezes, combined with good hand washing, helps stop the spread of colds and flu!
The Counseling Connection with Mrs. Walsh
In Guidance class we are finishing up with our career development lessons. Students have learned what a career is and the major factors in choosing a career. Education is continuously being stressed and graduating high school is a must! Students are to be proactive as they get to choose how far they decide to go with their educational pursuit after high school. The sky is the limit; please challenge your students to give their best every day in school. The higher your expectations, the better results you will see.
Our 5th graders led our school in our 2nd annual Career Fair during Family Night. The following students did a great job representing their future careers: Caroline Casey, Jaslynne Sapp, Dominik Guifarro, Hudson Williams, Myla Ragan, Kaelyn Coburn, Nathan Price, Olivia Moore, Kyla Adams, Mallory Broome and Janiah Downs.
Spring is around the corner and now is not the time to “quit” working in school. Parents please ask your students about their day and help hold them accountable for their schoolwork. Students also perform better when they get a good night’s sleep. Remember bed times are still important. It is also vital to monitor their use of electronic devices to ensure the safety of our children. Remember students must be in their classes by 7:30 a.m. so they are not counted as tardy.
Quote of the month:
The responsible person does his or her best on any task (even homework).
The responsible person completes the whole job, not just part of it.
Your best is the most you can expect of yourself.
Once a task has been started, you must be responsible enough to finish it (even if you don’t want to). Donna B. Forrest
The Computer Lab Latest with Miss Ball
Over the next few weeks, students will be doing “Type and Tell," an activity where each student gets the opportunity to type about something they want to share with their classmates. It is like “show and tell,” but instead of bringing in an item, the students will type about the item and read it in front of the class. We are working on public speaking, posture, making eye contact, and presenting with confidence, clarity, and expression.
Just a reminder that parents have access to their child’s work in computer class. We are currently using Office 365.
A few easy steps to access office 365:
2. Place your mouse over "for parents" and click Office 365
3. Type in your child’s username on the first line with @acsk12.org
4. Go to the next line and type in his/her password
5. Click sign in
**Reminder It is not case sensitive but there are no spaces**
Example: username: someone@acsk12.org
Password: 12345

March Habit and Manner Focus:
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Key Phrase: Listen Before You Talk
What this habit looks like in action: I listen to other peoples' ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints. I listen to others without interrupting. I am confident in voicing my ideas. I look people in the eyes when talking
Manner Focus: Use nice words.
