A Message From Your Principal
November Greetings,
It was wonderful to see so many families at Parent/Teacher conferences last month. This is a great time to connect with your classroom teacher and celebrate the successes your student has experienced already this year! If you were unable to make it to conferences, please reach out to the teacher to reschedule.
As we prepare for colder months a head, please remember a few things:
- Students can enter the school building at 8:30. Dropping off too early will cause them to wait in the cold which can be unsafe.
- Check what your student is wearing to school each morning. Winter coats, gloves, scarves, hats, pants, will be appropriate. If you need this winter gear, please reach out to the school and we can send some home!
- iPads will come home each night. If school is cancelled, a remote learning day could occur. Students will need to login at 9:10 into their TEAM on their iPad. Attendance will be taken at 9:15 and the instruction will conclude at 10:00.
November gives us time to pause and think about the many things we have to be grateful for. I am especially grateful for the incredible Adams families that have welcomed me into this community over the last two years. I have received so much warmth and love from so many of you. I am also grateful for the wonderful staff at Adams that continues to show up each day and face the new challenges this post-Covid world presents. Finally, I am grateful for our amazing students at Adams. They are the reason behind every decision I make and I love them each for their uniquenesses and genuine spirits.
I encourage you and your family to create a list of the things you are grateful for. See how many things you can add throughout the month of November!
Please see below for important reminders and information.
With Gratitude,
Mrs. Meagan Bakhit

Each month, Mrs. Lasky will post about what is being taught in guidance with our students and which social/emotional goals students should be practicing in and outside of their classrooms. Mrs. Lasky will also include a “Counseling Quandary of the Month”-this is a question that can be asked and discussed at home to support our students’ strive for success!
November:
Learning Goals:
o What Does It Mean to Be An “Adams Archer”
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
o How to Solve Problems Between Friends
• Classroom Expectations in Guidance:
o Whole-body listening
o Raising our hand when we have a question or comment
o Following directions
o The importance of kindness and responsibility
• Reviewing the “Zones of Regulation”
1. Name the feeling or emotion
2. Describe how that emotion feels to you
3. What color zone does that feeling fall under (Green, Yellow, Blue, or Red)
4. Determine one way, to help you find your way back into feeling in the “Green Zone”
*To learn more about the “Zones of Regulation’ and what they are, here is a link that helps explain what this is (it also includes some great family resources, if you would like to further discuss this topic at home with your child). https://zonesofregulation.com/index.html
Counseling Quandary:
What are the “STEPS” to solving a problem?
• State the problem
• Think of possible solutions
• Explore consequences
• Pick the best solution
How can we practice these steps at home and in the classroom?
Remote Learning Days
Things to Remember...
- Check your email, text, or phone calls for announcements about remote learning days or school closures.
- If a remote learning day is announced, have your student log into their TEAMs app on their iPad by 9:10. Attendance will be take at 9:15 and students will stay on until 10:00.
- If you can't get your student logged in, message the teacher or call the school and we will trouble shoot!
- Teachers will have some fun reading and math activities planned and then might assign some time on reading and math apps that can be done independently.
