FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

Summer camps returned this week with another great session of our Best Summer Break camp. A huge thank you to Mrs. Black and Mrs. Sosa for a wonderful week, and to all our campers and families for joining us. While we didn't always have the best weather, we certainly still had lots of fun!

Check out some of the latest news from Father Doyle School below:

FJVD Saints Cross Country and Tennis Interest Surveys

The Catholic Athletic League is offering competitive fall seasons in cross country and tennis for students entering grades six through eight, as well as a junior league in cross country for students entering grades four and five.

If your student is entering grades four through eight and would be interested in running cross country at Father Doyle, please complete the survey below. Please note that the survey is not a commitment to join the team, but is meant to gauge student interest.

While Father Doyle School has not sponsored a tennis team in the recent past, if there is sufficient interest to yield a team, we would be thrilled to offer this opportunity for our sixth through eighth graders. If your student is entering grades six through eight and would be interested in playing tennis at Father Doyle, please complete the survey below. Again, please note that the survey is not a commitment to join the team, but is meant to gauge student interest.

COVID-19 Guidance Updates

I know many families are eagerly anticipating specific guidance regarding masking, distancing, and other policies for the 2021-2022 school year at Father Doyle. Administration continues to work on drafting guidance that reflects the characteristics and needs of our unique school community.

Unfortunately, meetings with the Department of Health and Education Operations Center scheduled for this week have been delayed and rescheduled for the upcoming week. In order to draft an effective plan, it is important that school administration have this opportunity to meet with RIDOH/EDOC personnel to clarify state guidance and ensure the safety and well being of our school.

As soon as an appropriate plan has been finalized, it will be shared with faculty, staff, and families for review, discussion, and revision as needed. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

FACTS Family Portal Updates

We are excited for the transition to our new Student Information System (SIS) provided by FACTS. As a part of the FACTS SIS, all school families will have access to a family portal (with both computer and mobile-friendly options) where they will be able to:

  • See important school announcements
  • View a comprehensive school calendar
  • Order and complete payment for school lunches
  • Complete some forms/sign-offs digitally to avoid the need for paper copies
  • Edit and update demographic and contact information to ensure the school always has the most up to date information for your family
  • And much, much more!

The goal is to create one central location where families can find all the resources they need to stay informed.

More information will be available in the Newsletter next week regarding family information sessions during which school administration will provide families with tutorials and quick tips for the main features of the new family portal.

You can see a sneak peak of the Family Portal below!

Lastly, the school office remains open from 8am-1pm, Monday-Friday (and by appointment outside of these hours) throughout the summer. If you need anything or have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and a blessed week ahead!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
