FMS Counseling: Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Horstmeier & Ms. Jo

Needing to see the counselor?

Students needing to access the counselor's office can submit a form from their chromebooks by clicking on the apps button. This form comes only to the counselor's. If you have any questions or need help finding the form refer to the email that was sent today (Friday) from Mrs. Horstmeier. You can also ask your teacher for help. Obviously if there is an emergency, students will be sent to the Counselors Office immediately. This is just a great way to help students stay in the classroom for instruction time.

AFTER SCHOOL CHOIR aka HARMONY HORNETS ON TUESDAYS!!! Please feel free to come get a sign-up sheet if you would still like to join! WE will rehearse after school on Tuesdays, 3:20-4:15! Students should go to their lockers AT the car rider bell, get backpacks, then report to the choir room (G07) on Tuesdays after school!

We have had another great week! Students reviewed note values (whole, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth) and did some choreography as well as music composition! Music is ACTION! Great focus this week! As we move forward, we will incorporate rest values, and pretest our treble clef note names. As we continue to add concepts to what we are studying, we will continue to compose short pieces of music to truly exercise our creativity!

Careers 8

We have completed a survey to examine the different career clusters that may be of interest to each student. The survey is one that students were able to complete in class, and that asked them to self-assess their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. After that, we took a look at a great online resource for more information about career clusters. Click here to see the resource we used this week!

We have the following field trips scheduled for our class:

September 21st: Missouri State Technical College, Linn, MO

September 25th: Danuser Machine, 9-10:30am

November 15th: Campus tour/visit to William Woods University

November 27th: Campus visit/tour to University of Missouri, Columbia

Guest Speakers:

September 17th: Amy Schnoebelen: SSM Hospice (Jefferson City)

October 23rd: Michelle Kemp, MU

PARENTS, WE NEED YOU! We are looking for guests to come speak to our Careers class this semester! Please email me if you would like to visit our classroom to tell us about your career! Our students LOVE to hear from YOU!

Mrs. Blandford and Ms. Neudecker

We are so excited to see you all in the band program this year! There are going to be so many exciting things!

6th Grade Band:

Wow! These first few days of 6th grade band with instruments has been really exciting and I think the students would agree that we have a lot to learn.

This upcoming week in band we are going to working on the firs two notes in the book. We are focusing on number 1-4 on page 4 and need to be able to name the note, know the fingering and be able to clap and count and then play the note.

The points for band olympics will be added after our first playing assessment. Please make sure your students are practicing. The prize for the winning team will be something that they do not want to miss!

If your student ordered a book through the school, they are in and they cost $10.99. These can be paid for with cash or check. Checks should be made payable to FULTON MIDDLE SCHOOL. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Also, if your student needs any reeds, valve oil, slide grease or any other accessory for your instrument, you can always buy these through the school as well!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Throughout the year I will post things on google classroom as well as through email. Please check your emails frequently.

7th Grade Band:

7th Grade Band is doing so well already!

Band Olympic points were added up yesterday and are on google classroom. The students that earn the most points will have a special prize at the end of each quarter. Keep practicing kiddos!

We have started out new book, and if you would like to buy one for your child that they can keep at home that is more than welcome. Please let me know if you would like to go that route, and I will get one ordered. You can then pay the school as soon as they come in.

The 7th grade band will be playing at a Veteran's Day assembly at the middle school and we just received that sheet music to start sight reading today. Please encourage them to be practicing at home.

8th Grade Band:

8th Grade Band is off to a strong start. We are doing a lot of review, and the students are responding very well.

In the next week ,we will be learning about chromaticism and reviewing vocabulary words from last year. We are looking at our sheet music for homecoming over the next few weeks as well, and getting music for the Star Spangled Banner and Fulton Boy. This music will be performed at the homecoming parade as well as the football game. More information will be sent home regarding this event in the next couple of weeks. Information can also be found on google classroom as well as email and the newsletter every week.

I will be ordering the polo shirts this week. Please do not send money with your child until the shirts come in. I will let them know how much they owe. Be aware that the students will need to have a band polo, shorts and tennis shoes for the homecoming parade.
