This three day weekend is a great opportunity for students make up work and get caught up in courses as needed. 10th Grade Pre-ACT Announcement
The Oregon Department of Education has contracted with PreACT as the state's new 10th-grade college-readiness assessment. This replaces the PSAT that Oregon high schools used to offer in October. All 10th graders have the opportunity to take this assessment, and it is optional for students. 10th graders will need to opt-in to take the PreACT. For 2022-23, the assessment window is in March, but for future years the window will be in October.
Scappoose High School will offer all current 10th-grade students the opportunity to take the PreACT on Thursday, March 23, 2023. The test takes approximately 3 hours to administer, and students will be excused from their classes to participate. However, students will be responsible for making up any classwork they miss.
Students interested in taking the PreACT must opt-in by completing this PreACT Registration by Friday March 3rd.
There is no fee for the PreACT because the Oregon Department of Education has been directed to provide a statewide opportunity for 10th-grade students served by public schools to access a nationally-normed college entrance practice exam.
The PreACT is a low-stakes test-practice experience for four-year college-bound students. Score reports provide insight into students' predicted performance on the ACT and include valuable career indicators. It is important to note that most four-year colleges and universities are test-optional or test-free, so the ACT or SAT may not be required for admission. Don't hesitate to get in touch with your school counselor with questions. The test covers Math, Science, Reading, and English.
Go to Learn More About PreACT (pdf) if you would like more information.

What we do:
Event planning, resourcing, and fundraising for the Senior Luncheon, Baccalaureate, and Graduation party
Senior Luncheon, Fri Jun 2:
After the seniors do their parade-style walk through the elementary schools, they come back to the high school to refuel with some lunch and then start rehearsal for the graduation ceremony.
Baccalaureate, Fri Jun 2: A more intimate opportunity to pause and reflect on this rite of passage, which includes some inspirational speakers, and fun interaction for the seniors.
Actions items for parents and guardians of seniors:
We have a slideshow with baby pictures! Send baby picture to shssafeandsober@gmail.com, include first and last name student. DUE MAY 1st
NEW: We also want a current photo to show then and now
Senior posters are a long-standing tradition. These collages of photos and memories of your senior will be on display at a special ‘Walk through Memory Lane’ event following the Baccalaureate in the cafeteria. Poster requirements: Design vertically 28” h x 22” w on traditional poster board, include student’s name on the front and upper left corner on the back. DROP OFF AT THE SHS OFFICE MAY 30 - JUNE 1. You will get the posters back after the event. Have fun and get creative!
Graduation party, Sat Jun 3:
This party is meant to be a safe place for graduating seniors to celebrate together. They will be bussed to a secret (fun!) location in the evening after the graduation ceremony. They will be bussed back in the morning. The evening is filled with food, games, prizes, activities, chilling, and loads of fun!
