ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Parents,
We would like to invite you to our End of the Year Pre-K 3 & 4 Program and luncheon. We are asking for food donations to prepare a Taco Bar for you and your family. The Program “Adios Amigos” for the end of the year will be on Thursday, June 16 after the school Mass. The program will be from 10:15 – 11:30 am. We will be sending you information about your assigned donation. Please know that if you would like to take your child home after the event, Ms. Dempsey has agreed you may.
Friendly reminder the field trip day is only a half day, this means that if you have children in other grades, the students can stay in extended care until 12:30 with no charge. If you have not sent the form or the money, kindly send it as soon as possible. If you are driving some children to the zoo for us, please know you need to bring them back to school before going home. If you are only driving your child to the zoo, please know you may leave the zoo at your convenient time. We plan to get ready to leave the zoo and go back to school by 12:30. Do not leave without letting us know. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE ALL PARENTS SIGN-OUT BEFORE LEAVING THE ZOO.
Reminders:
• Thursday All school Mass at 9:00 am
• Tuesday May 24th Jamba juice sale after school. School Store has closed for the year.
• Wednesday and Thursday May 25th and 26th early dismissal for Conferences. Due to the field trip to the Zoo on Thursday May 26th, PK-4 will have conferences only Wednesday May 25th from 1-3:30 pm. The conferences will be held only for those parents who want to have one. If anyone is interested in having the conference, please let us (Sra. Farias or Sra. Raquel) know.
• Thursday May 26th field trip to the Point Defiance Zoo.
• Memorial Day. No school on Friday and Monday (May 27 and 30th.)
• Walk-a-Thon will be held on Friday June 3rd.
• "Adios Amigos" program will be on Thursday June 16th . Please read and answer the message Mrs. Farias sent out last Monday about the attire the children will wear on this day. Girls need a tutu Mrs. Farias is ordering for 5.00. Boys need a cowboy hat! Mrs. Farias may order a hat for you for 5.00. Girls need to figure out what leggins and what solid colored T-Shirt to wear with their tutu. Boys need jeans and white shirt.
Curriculum News:
Oral Language/Science. Let’s Find Out/Mi Weekly Reader ¿Cómo sería . . . vivir en el mar? How would be . . . live in the sea? This lesson will help children think critically about key details. We will talk about living things and their habitats. Content vocabulary: ballena, caballitos de mar, delfín, dentadura, estrellas de mar, focas, nutria, pez payaso, pulpo, sobrevivir, violento.
Math. Number and Operations. A Review addition/subtraction with digits from 1 to 10 with different items.
Religion. The Holy Spirit Helps the Church. The children will learn the story of Pentecost and will identify it as the day when the work of the Church began. On the day of Pentecost, the Apostles taught many people about Jesus.
Estrellita Phonics: Review all letter sounds to begin the lesson. The letters G, g is our focus for this week again due to the different letter sounds it makes when paired with different vowels (gato y gemelos). Children will learn new words that begin with these consonant sounds. Children will be tracing and writing the letter forms and learning songs related to the letter sounds.
