First Grade News

Mrs. Baker, Room 22

Highlights from Week 18: January 11-15

Hello Families!

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend! Remember, no school this Monday for MLK Jr. day. It was another busy week in first grade, we used our writing partners to help build our best writing piece. Next week, students will be assessed on their final personal narrative writing. We conducted three science investigations that focused on air and weather. In math, we completed unit 5, and a session of math workshop.

Wesley was a great Top Dog this week! We are excited to send our sweet Violet to the prestigious position this next week.

If you see any good deals on hand sanitizer or pencils we could use them in the coming weeks. Thanks for keeping an eye out! :)

Check out our classroom updates, and as always, be sure to contact me with any questions. Hope you're enjoying some family time this weekend.

Science Update

One of our investigations this week focused on air resistance. The kids explored this idea by creating their own parachutes. They did a great job!

Movie Night Announcement

Hello all,

A few of you have asked good questions about the upcoming Movie night which is Friday, February 5th from 6:30-8:30.

The students will be VOTING on the movies and we will announce the big winner the night of the movie. We will be coming around with ballots to have the students fill out so they can vote on 1 of the 3 movies:
Inside Out
Hotel Transylvania 2

We will give you a heads up about voting- as we get closer to the event.

As always- THANK YOU for your support!
