Beau Club MLK Day of Service Habitat for Humanity Build

Monday, Jan. 18th, 8am

717 Pine Avenue

Albany, GA

Beaux will redefine their perception of the National Holiday honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Instead of sleeping in, the Beau club will participate in a day of service with the Albany State University Collegiate Chapter of the Flint River Habitat of Humanity. Lunch will be provided, however, Beaux should eat breakfast prior to coming. Remember to add the activity to your Volunteer Log.

Notes from Parent Meeting Held Sunday, January 10, 2016

Belle Attire:

Dresses have been ordered for all belle's whose dress payments were received by the deadline. It is imperative the dresses be ordered by Friday, January 15th. The fee is $130. Please remind belle's to purchase their shoes ASAP. White shoes, no higher than 3 inches. Shoes will be required at practice.

Beau & Beau Father's Attire:

Beaux must go to Chica's Bridal & Boutique located at 1922 Dawson Road to be fitted and pay the deposit for their Tuxedo. Beau fathers will need to either wear a black suit and black bow tie or be fitted for a black tuxedo as well. The number is (229) 432-7484. Tuxes need to be ordered by February 1, 2016. The cost of the tux is $117.50.

Beau Head Shots:

Beaux must contact Adrian Jenkins Photography at 229-883-2966 to make an appointment to take pictures. The studio is located at 309 S. Jackson Street in Albany, GA. The deadline is Saturday, January 16 to be included in newspaper and other Beautillion Club promotional material.

Drills for Beautillion Militaire:

Drill Instructor, Nathaniel Loman will begin drill practice in January. Beaux should have the poem Invictus by William Ernest Hendley memorized for the drill. The poem can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invictus. The practice dates will be released soon.

Beau Assessments:

The final Beau assessments are due no later than Thursday, February 4, 2016. The total payment is $700. Please remember to use the sponsorship to obtain funds to assist with either the assessment or scholarship competition. Remember, this is a scholarship competition. All fundraising for the scholarship competition (above and beyond the $700 assessment) must be turned in by February 21, 2016.

Volunteer Hours:

Volunteer logs showing your community service hours must be completed by February 21st. A minimum of 25 hours is required. We encourage you to obtain as many hours as possible.

Practice Schedule

Rehearsal for Beautillion began Sunday, January 10th. Rehearsal is held EVERY Sunday in January and February (except 2/14/16) from 3-5 PM at the studio located at the corner of Broad and Washington. The choreographer is Tyshiba Maxie of Uptown Dance Studio.

Beau moms will practice at the end of January and will have at least 3 practice sessions with the Beaux and Belles.

Beaux are asked to wear khaki pants and their gold beau polo shirt. Belles are asked to dress casually, however, neither jeggings nor leggings are allowed.

Gala Details:

Gala tickets will be available at the February parent meeting. At that time, all payments of the base fee of $700 must be satisfied. Beau families have until February 21st to submit any fundraising beyond base fee as contributions to the fundraising competition. The scholarship awards will be determined based on the total fundraising proceeds and will be announced during Gala.

All Beau Moms will need floor length formal dresses. Beau Fathers will need to wear either a black tuxedo or dark suit (navy or black) with white shirt and black bow tie. Guests may wear church attire.
