HES List Server Message
September 22, 2016
Hello Holland Elementary Parents,
I hope that this message finds all of you doing well, as we had another great week at school. There are several times of the school year that are my favorite, and this is one of them. The end of September is usually when the children are settled into their routines and the "Back to School" activities have subsided. The result is routine opportunities for effective teaching and learning, and it was fantastic to see this taking place at Holland this week.
Attendance Information
As I wrote to parents last week, we're now using a new automated call system for student attendance notifications. School Messenger will automatically call parents to inform them that their child was documented as absent at school that day. Additional calls will be used to provide reminders to parents when absent notes need to be submitted. If you receive a call in error, you could disregard the message or call the school.
Also, parents can “opt-in” to receive an email to notify them if their child is documented as absent or tardy. They can do this in Home Access Center (HAC) or in the eSchoolPlus Family App. Each day eSchoolPlus sends an email/notification to parents of absent/tardy students at 10:30.
In addition, parents will soon be able to provide absence notes electronically through the school's website. This feature will be available soon, and I'll send a link to parents which will be located on the HES homepage.

Volunteer Clearances:
Please keep in mind, if you plan on volunteering at Holland or any other school in Council Rock, you will need clearances on file in our district’s Human Resources Department. Directions for acquiring clearances can be found at the following link: http://www.crsd.org/Page/43435. Parents who do not have current clearances on file will not be eligible to be a chaperone field trips or volunteer in the classroom.
CR Glow in the Dark Dance Party (Grades 4-6)
Kick off back to school with our first ever Council Rock District Wide Glow in the Dark Dance for our 4th–6th-grade students and their parents on October 7th from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Fuge! While the kids are having fun in “The Glow Zone”, a kid’s glow in the dark dance party with a state of the art lighting and sound system, parents can relax in the parent lounge to socialize, meet new parents, and watch the kids on the big screen. Pulse Entertainment will energize the night with fun mixer activities for kids and parents, while spinning favorite hit songs and taking requests. It’s a great way to bring our Council Rock family together, allowing our 4 – 6-grade students and their parents to make new friends from across the District as they rise to middle school.
