A Letter From Dr. Carey April 15, 2022
Dear Enumclaw School District Community,
COVID-19 Immunization Not Required For School Entry
As you may know, the State Board of Health (SBOH), who determines immunization requirements for students in all of Washington’s K–12 schools, has been considering whether or not to require the COVID-19 vaccine for students.
Yesterday, the Washington State Board of Health (SBOH) voted not to include COVID-19 in the state’s immunization requirements for school entry at this time. As stated in the SBOH meeting, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) supports the recommendation of the SBOH’s technical advisory group (TAG) and thanks the TAG for its thorough and methodical and transparent review of this matter over several months. You can view the full DOH statement at the link below.
We are anticipating the current health and safety guidance from the state Department of Health will remain in place next fall. This includes regular cleaning and disinfecting, mask choice, proper hand hygiene, and physical distancing when possible. As a reminder, as we have learned throughout the pandemic, the situation with the virus can evolve and sometimes the guidance changes for us to continue providing the safest learning environment possible for our school community but we will continue to monitor for any changes and communicate those to our learning community.
For your awareness, at this time, there have not been changes to Governor Inslee’s proclamation requiring school employees be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Thank you,
Shaun
We Want to Hear From Each of You!
Dear Enumclaw School District Students, Families and Staff,
ESSER funding will be used to provide additional academic interventions and social-emotional support for students over the next few years. We want to hear more about how we can provide equitable academic interventions to support learning recovery and acceleration, continue to meet the social-emotional needs of all students, and best provide professional development for our ESD staff.
This information will help inform our plan for spending the required set-aside amount of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) federal stimulus funds, as required by the legislation.
Please participate in the Thought Exchange using the link button below and provide your thoughts. Your input is a vital part of our process for determining the programs and supports we provide for our students. We will also be providing EHS students with the opportunity to provide their thoughts as well.
Question:
Over the next few years, ESSER funding will be used to provide additional academic interventions and social-emotional support for students. What programs, interventions, and/or supports should ESD prioritize within these areas? (e.g. Summer Learning, professional development for staff, etc. )
This Exchange is confidential. Your thoughts will be shared with other participants, but not your identity.
You will see and rate thoughts that others have shared. 5 stars = strongly agree, 1 star = strongly disagree.
You do not need to rate all thoughts, though we recommend you rate at least 20.
This Exchange will close on April 18, 2022.

Voluntary COVID Testing Opportunities The Voluntary PCR and Antigen COVID Testing Program Will Remain for Enumclaw School District Staff and Symptomatic Students as Long as Supplies Last
In collaboration with the state Department of Health, our school district will continue to participate in a state-funded program for voluntary COVID-19 screening and testing that will help contain the virus, protect our communities, and keep students and teachers healthy and safe.
This testing protocol fits into our larger strategy to contain and control the virus. Each precaution we take is an added layer of protection, and when used together, dramatically decreases the risk.
